What will the Democrats do on the continuing resolution?

  1. The Democrats will grow a backbone and oppose the CR.

  2. The Democrats will give up the 60 vote leverage on the vote.

Dems will support the CR. If they don't, Trump will have the authority to cut everything due to lack of funding, a conservatives dream scenario. Both options suck if your a Dem. Best to let them CR and drag out the fight. His approval ratings are dropping fast, no need to take the spotlight off his dumbassary.

    Yep.

If they force a shutdown they’ll catch the blame because Republicans can say it passed the House, the President is ready to sign it, and we have the votes to pass it in the Senate but can’t get it to the floor because we can’t find enough Democrats to count on one hand willing to keep the government open. And, as a few people have warned Dems, being put in charge of a mandated government furlough is literally Elon’s wet dream. So it’s a lose lose - they’ll get blamed for it, and it would actually make some of the things the administration is trying to do that their constituents hate easier.

For years democrats wailed about Rs shutting down the government because they didn’t get what they want. I guess those same Ds don’t think that works both ways.

Shumer took the high road/ saner path and went with the CR.

It is being reported that enough Democrats will vote to end the filibuster on the CR and let it pass.

Schumer votes to keep government open | Fox News

Chuck Schumer will vote to keep government open: 'For Donald Trump, a shutdown would be a gift'

"I believe it is my job to make the best choice for the country to minimize the harms to the American people. Therefore, I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down," Schumer said while speaking on the Senate floor on Thursday.

The Democratic leader rattled off a list of reasons he disagrees with the House-passed stopgap spending bill, but added, "I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option."

10 Dems did right for the country and assisted with averting a shutdown. Schumer is right IMO. This kicks that can down the road a bit. Next fight will be telling if Pubs want to work on a bipartisan basis. Wishful thinking, but hope for the best.

So apparently some of the Senators who voted to end the filibuster, voted against the bill.

The 10 Democrats who voted with republicans to avoid a shutdown is like the Ukrainians giving in to Putin’s demands for a ceasefire. It may seem like a good idea at the time but in the end this gives unlimited power to the executive branch to do what they want to do which isn’t going to be pretty.

Only the Republicans have attempted to shut down the government over ideology over the last 30 years.
