Would you rather 1 seed or 2 seed in this scenario?

As a matter of fact, the only times that a southern/eastern 1 seed has lost to a pacific/mountain team since the pod system went into effect in 2002 were Duke to 3 seed Arizona in 2011, and Memphis to 2 seed UCLA in 2006. You’ve probably had more pacific/mountain 1 seeds lose to southern/eastern teams in that bracket than vice-versa—and maybe even more southern/eastern teams win that regional.

All that to say I just don’t think playing in that regional has a necessarily adverse effect on teams from our region.

Food for thought, of the 39 past NCAA champions, 25 were #1 seeds, and only 5 were 2 seeds. The only issue with that last #1 seed, Florida, Alabama, or Tennessee are going to get the shaft being the weakest #1 seed and getting sent to San Fran. We had our shot and even if you make us beat Georgia, I don't think we would supplant Houston, Duke or Auburn. We are destined to either head to San Fran or be a #2 closer to home, because as a 2 seed, we would most likely be ranked as the highest 2 seed and get closest to home.

Bold prediction: If we win the sec tourney, we will be seeded in front of Duke.

    Saw this on reddit:

    I say, "sign me up"

    Likely play:
    - American / St Francis
    - UCLA / Utah State
    - Iowa St
    - Mich State

Not saying that's an easy sled, but of the to 8 schools that have really seperated themselves, we'd get MSU.

I would not want to plan an Iowa State in the regional semis. They are much better than a 4-seed, imo.

They were overrated in the top ten. No reason to fear IA st. BYU could be a pain in the a$$ though.

I hope we get the #1 overall seed because that means we won the SEC Tourney. Barring that, I'd prefer to be the #1 2 seed if it means we play in the east in Duke's bracket. @GatorRade bring on the analysis and the hate...

I love analysis, Grateful, but what the heck, hate?? I think you’ve got me all wrong man. Don’t confuse a desire to see clearly for hate. Yes I think Auburn has a better resume than we do. So what? Virtually every analyst and metric suggests the same. I also think Mike Tyson has a better boxing resume than my dad, but I would hope this doesn’t indicate that I hate my father.

BTW, you might be interested to know that I’ve suggested a few times on here that, if Florida wins the SEC tournament, we would take Duke’s seed. With analysis!

The "hate" part was a joke, sorry.
There's no denying that you've used tons of good analysis as investiture for Duke and for good reason.
