Auburn lost their series to Mississippi State 3 games to 0. Going into this weekend Auburn had the number one RPI. I guess they will relinquish it after that series loss. We play them the weekend of March 28th at their place. I’m sure that we were scouting them well this weekend. Maybe we can duplicate Mississippi State’s sweep.
Tori knows her softball. She can be a little bit of a homie when she broadcasts A&M games; however, she does recognize and does acknowledge the Gator achievements and skills.
SEC+ games are always broadcast using homer commentators. That's fine because Kyle Crooks and whoever he has with him fits into that category. And I like it. But the Texas A&M announcers, especially Tori Vidales, were as fair-minded and informative as any "homer" announcers I have ever heard.
I agree. My favorite thing about Tori is that she is a big Reagan Walsh fan. She never fails to talk about Reagan‘s accolades.
Reagen is so underrated. I would love for her to win one of player of the year awards whether national or conference. We will miss her so much next year. She also has big time stepped up her defense this year.
Remember that Walsh came to Florida as a shortstop. That didn't work out and she moved to 2nd, then played 3rd and often just hit at DP. Now she's found her home at 1st and has been very good. Team player all the way and a dynamite hitter.
Where's our insiders when we need them? I sure hope she's good to go for the weekend. This is going to be one heck of a series.
IMO the entire A&m broadcast team should be commended for their excellent broadcasts the entire weekend. Tori knows the SEC inside and out and is fully capable of downloading what she knows in a fair and intelligent manner. I can't think of a color commentator anywhere that does a better job than her. The play-by-play guy was also knowledgeable and fair. Then you add in the sideline pretty face who on several occasions actually added informative and interesting information. A&M's broadcast team should be applauded for doing an entire weekend of commentary that was fair, knowledgeable and entertaining. I have not heard it done better.
And while we are on that topic, I caught a couple of the Mississippi State/Auburn games that were being broadcast with Amanda Scarbourgh doing color. For reasons that escape me, (yes she blew completely not understanding the infield fly rule against us), some here and many on other boards claim she hates the Gators and is incredibly biased. Which has always caused me to pull my hair out. In both of the partial games I caught, and these games didn't even involve the Gators, she went off at great length on everything about UF. Taylor, incredible team power, beating her A&M home team even with Keagan not in College Station. And much more. She went on and on with praise so long it covered several batters during her comments. I think Amanda is one of the better national color commentators. Not perfect. Who is? I don't mute her the way I mute Mowins/Smith.
The Alabama radio guys have a podcast called "Out of the Box" which is very good. They go in depth into alabama but also the SEC every week, it is a very very good listen if anyone wants to hear what they say. I listened to the one released today and they stated that Mowins/Smith/Mendoza were going to be the commentators for our series this weekend. I still can't believe that none of our games this weekend are not being broadcasted outside Sec network/+, it is conference tourney time so I guess it makes sense. I checked espn press room release and indeed it will be Mowins/Smith/Mendonza on the call.
They are very fair with a lot of their analysis. They aren’t so fast to overact and I like that they are real about teams…like OU and calling their pitching into question. Everybody thinks they only gave up so many runs because they didn’t have Landry…unless Landry has changed a lot she’s not a shutdown ace. Their podcast, the Good Morning Softball America podcast, and D1Softball with Lorenz I like. In The Circle is hit or miss to me. I did see that they upgraded Tennessee and OU later in the month to ESPN…. of course they would get that.
I like their podcast, they are very honest and up front about most of the teams. Softball America is great too. Sometimes, I find the connection between Lorenz and Beccera to be a bit flat and I wish that ITC would go more in depth about what actually happens during the weekend. I feel that they get a lot of good interviews but use that to bulk the majority of their episodes.
