S&P 500 falls more than 2% as market sell-off intensifies

    Yikes. Stocks way off midday on Monday. Trump working hard to make stocks affordable! The S&P 500 has fallen 5.6% and the Nasdaq Composite has slumped over 10% since inauguration.

    Stocks dropped on Monday as the selling pressures that dragged Wall Street last week persisted, with investors worried about an economic slowdown after President Donald Trump didn’t rule out a recession with U.S. tariffs being implemented.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 665 points, or 1.6%. The S&P 500 shed 2.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 3.9%. Both the 500-stock S&P and tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped to their lowest levels since September 2024.

    The Nasdaq was weighed down by declines in the “Magnificent Seven” cohort. Tesla tumbled 13%, while Alphabet, Meta and AI darling Nvidia lost around 5%.

    All this winning is starting to piss me off. We weathered Obama, then survived 45, and then Biden, but this round of Trump seems to be a disaster of misfires and malfeasance hugely bigger than any ever seen by anyone ever before. Quickdraw shooting from the hip too fast can, and does, result in shooting yourself in the lower extremities on occasion. This idiot is lucky to still have all his toes.

    If S &P drops a little further I suspect companies are going to increase buy back and reduce cap ex by a proportionate amount. Reduced Capex combined with decreased gubmnt spending combined with decrease retail and we're screwed
    Congrats maga ..laying the groundwork for the world economy. Go team..ps...we're all in the same boat

    I thought that was 1 of the more "interesting" things he said in his speech - bragging about the int rate falling. It's not falling for a good reason.
