Theres definately a balancing act, would be interesting to see degenerative disease stats with pre and post BMI results.

As I recall, the studies that showed underweight as being the shortest lived category controlled for wasting diseases, although I’m unsure as to whether they controlled for eating disorders.

You have to multiply the death rate for a 79 year old (5.9%) times 1.3. Then subtract from 100% to get the chance he’ll be alive. Do it for all 4 years and multiply each year by each other. That’s the chance he’ll live through all 4.

I’m open for another calculation since i did it quickly

    I don’t believe he’ll live through a third term.

That’s just back of the envelope

Maybe we should have but being on a bicycle is something we never saw Trump do. Even though he hasn’t fallen yet Trump has been seen having trouble getting out of a golf cart and needed help walking down a ramp. The questions many are asking about his health are legitimate.

I doubt Trump has a doctor that will tell him the truth about his health. In fact Trump tells his doctors what to put in the report. But now doctors find him to be obese with high cholesterol levels and high BP.

That high cholesterol is bad has been roundly debunked.

And I can remember when 100 + age was the threshold for concern for systolic.

Oh, and BMI was adjusted downward, 1998 I believe, alarmingly creating millions of obese Americans overnight.*

    *sarcasm

For some reason I am sure you know what syphilis sores look like. You just doing what lefties do. Accuse the other side of doing the things the dem's do like propping up a President that has no idea where he is half the time.

I’ll post numerous links. But first you need to prove that you’ve studied the links you demanded regarding obesity.

The first I’d just a blog, not a scientific study. The second proves my point that Trump’s obesity increases his chances of death, and the final one won’t go anywhere.

That you went no further than to see “blog” in the first URL and so missed the referenced studies, as well as the larger primer on the limitations of certain studies, is how I know rope-a-dope with you would be wasting my time.

It’s admittedly a side detail discussion but I think your numbers overstate the risk for the following reasons

    1. I think the SS averages you showed are for everybody - healthy, not healthy etc. it probably includes obese as part of the population, and in the US something like 40%, or maybe more for that age, are obese. Trumps obesity probably puts him moderately above average.

    2. The SS again includes everybody. Low income and higher incomes. At around 50 or 60, the average lifespan of a man in the most wealthy 20% is almost 10 years more than the bottom 20%. I don’t know what that number is for 79 years olds, but given his status and the availability to the absolute best health care, his likelihood is much lower.

He may end up in a wheelchair or a rascal scooter in 4 years and even crazier than he is now but the odds of him actually dying are pretty low.

Do we really have solid proof that Biden was alive the last four years ?

Maybe. The actuarial tables are for average which is weighted down by unhealthy people too, to your point. All I do know is there is a 25% chance of dying for the average 79-year-old person over the next 4 years and Trump is more unhealth than the average person overweight by about 100 lbs. I'd have to do more research on the multiplier. ChatGPT says 1.3.
