Looks like the Secret Service shot an Indiana man who was apparently demonstrating his 2nd amendment rights in a "suicidal" fashion, so they shot him. I guess you shoot someone to keep them from shooting themselves - not sure. Shooter is in the hospital.

Gunman is shot outside the White House | Daily Mail Online

A gunman was shot by Secret Service members after being spotted with a firearm just outside the White House at midnight on Saturday night.

The armed man, from Indiana, parked his vehicle on 17th and G Streets - just a stone's throw away from the President's home.

Alternative headline is that the SS saved a man by disabling him from killing himself.

I don't think DC has open carry laws, so cops probably had the authority to tell him to put the gun down or face the consequences of not complying. When this happens in open carry states, and it has, I question that legality of it.

Too bad it didn’t happen a few days earlier. They could have had the honorary secret service kid take the last shot

So, the suspect had gun and might be nuts, drunk, or had a drug induced bad behavior. To me it looks like suicide by cop that failed because he didn’t take into consideration that he was a white man. SMH

Secret Service is on high alert, they don’t want another deranged Republican voter shooting at Trump again

The link in the OP says he had a gun and was "brandishing" it at the cops. And I know that the term "brandishing" can be used pretty loosely by cops. But it probably means they saw a gun on him, at a minimum.

Thanks for the heads up. I assume my computer automatically put the word “no” in my response when it shouldn’t have.

I guess one man's "Second Amendment" rights were superior to that other man's Second Amendment rights.

Supremacy Clause at the micro level. ;)
