Let’s go! Taking a series against the number 4 team on the road without our ace is huge. Had every opportunity to win the other game too. Hope Keagan is back soon but very impressed with the rest of the pitching staff this weekend.
Love the series win on the road. Especially without your ace. I don't think I would throw her until next weekend. Go Gators!!
Clutch pitching from Hammock and 2 great defensive plays from Falby & Otis. The change of pace between Oxley's rise ball and screw ball to Kara's drop ball and power had the Aggies off balance. When Hammock isn't walking people, she's excellent and showed that today. There have been a few posters who said Hammock would never be a contributor is SEC games, but Coach Walton proved the doubters wrong today. He had the confidence to put her in with the game 2-2 and she proved herself. This will be great for her confidence and just adds more depth for when Keagan returns to the rotation. To go to College Station without your ace and win 2 of 3 against a Top 5 team is really, really good. And one more thing. For CTW to pinch hit for a 1st team All American, using a true freshman on top of that, and to have Korbe giving her encouragement instead of pouting, and then for Gabi to come through with a base hit that led to our 4th run being scored, says volumes to me about how well Walton knows this team and how together they are as a group. Impressive!!
Great back to back wins to take the series after that tough first loss. And at their house. Big series win for the ladies!
Agree..Coach Walton knows his players, he has faith in them..he has after all won NCs and won over 1000 games..I think he knows how to coach..
Can someone please explain to me this play from today's game: Runner on 2B, stealing 3B, throw to SS, then 3B, so out. I understand 1st and 3rd situation where the catcher throws to SS to trick the 3B runner into going for home, then SS throws out at home. But in the 2B situation it doesn't seem like the runner is going to wait to see if there's a throw. If the runner is going, why not throw directly to 3B?
I thought she would contribute. What she did today is what you kind of hoped for with her, imo. I didn’t, and still don’t, really think she’s an sec quality ace, or number 2. I think she can do what she did today once or twice a weekend though. She has some really good stuff and will rack up the k’s, but she’s had trouble with the walks her whole career and I just think that’s who she is at this point. Shorter appearances as a change of pace relief pitcher is where I think she’ll do most of her damage.
I believe the play you are talking about was the runner trying to steal third. We had nobody covering 2nd, the runner got too far off base, jocey throws to ss and now the runner is caught mid base line between us and 3rd...throw to 3rd then tag...if I remember correctly
