Due to Jeremy Jin's injury suffered last week, he was unavailable for singles. With JJ out that meant everyone in the lineup below number one player Billy Ganesan had to move up one slot. This made a difficult situation, against a tough Oklahoma team in their back yard almost impossible. The second problem was the weather. Wind blowing about 20 mph and cold. Our guys did not play very smart in the windy conditions. Another learning lesson for this young team. Interesting story as to how Adhithya Ganesan got the name "Billy". It seems a few years ago Adhithya was playing with Ben Shelton at the training center at Lake Nona. Ben had a hard time with Adhithya's first name so started calling him Billy. It stuck!

Several of the guys had decent starts in singles......but everyone struggled closing out sets in crunch time. And of course doubles an issue yet again.
Bad timing with Jin because this was a winnable match they really needed.
Edengren gers another shot and can't take advantage. Paliska unable to give much, weintraub has disappeared. So much of tbe roster this staff has added hasn't been able to impact matches

The matches this weekend are the toughest we will play this spring in my opinion. After Saturday we will have played the best three teams on paper in the conference. Texas, Texas A&Ms, and Oklahoma. All the following matches are winnable. That stretch is what should be used to measure this team. This team also needs to grow up when playing away from home. They are 0-5 on the road. Of course we all would like to win every match on our schedule; however we are not at that point yet. Yes, we do need to add a stud at the top of our lineup, but those players do not grow on trees! Everyone is after the top juniors in the world and hopefully we can sign one in this spring signing period.

Women are facing Texas tonight and huge underdogs.....they somehow manage to scrape out the doubles point with wins on 1 and 2. Let's see if they can build on that and get their first conference win. Have to start winning or they won't even make postseason....a first

Daubernova battles back for a first set win
    Spee down 4-5 in first

Texas with easy wins vs Oliveras and Gatenby......Gailis with a quick win for uf to even the match 2-2
Dudeney and Daubernova on serve middle second sets
Spee had chances but lost 1st service tiebreak
No room for error rest of the way

Daubernova was up a break mid second set but falls apart and loses 4-6...headed to a third and reeling

    Dudeney at 4-4
Spee down a set and a break
It's heading south a little bit, need to refocus

Spee loses...she really struggles to finish matches

Daubernova 2-2 in third for the match....tough spot for freshman vs the only Texas vet in the lineup

Heck of a battle here...games are all contested. Daubernova finally gets a break for 4-3. This is where she was in 2nd set too

Daubernova fights off a break point and holds for 5-3 lead. Huge game there

Rookie earns her stripes....another break and 4 straight games gives Daubernova and uf a big win vs Texas
First sec win and first quality win

Thornquist really let the roster decline, although they have also had a lot of bad luck re injury as well. Missing 2 of the top 4 this year.....they might have been a top 10 type team but not a threat to really challenge elite squads

I am told Rachel Gallis had to serve underhanded the entire match due to her recent injury. I texted the coaches and congratulated them. Great win which will be very tough, especially if Gallis is unable to play.

Gailis sat the match before...and has missed several other matches. Her limited, Lopez hasn't played all year, and Emily played only 2 disastrous matches. That's 3 of your top 4 players. Add in it was a small roster to begin with.

Men down a break in all 3 doubles matches vs TAMU

And as I type courts 2 and 3 lose, the usual early hole to dig out of
Jin again played doubles but not listed for singles....although Jefferson is listed at both #2 @ #4 singles, which would be a tough day for him

    Ganesan 5-6
    Jin 2-6
    Johnson 6-3
    Jefferson 6-4
    Nirundorn 4-6
    Edengren 2-6
Not looking good. Edengren lack of development is so surprising to me. Jefferson has made great progress that I expected from both of them

Jin clearly isn't himself, ucf transfer jc roddick is controlling their match

Another transfer is Togan Takac at #6 who played at uf his freshman year

Ganesan loses his first set, tamu takes 4 of 6 first sets.

Getting blanked again....some competitive sets but uf unable to get over the hump. It's 5-0 Tamu now, looks like they will finish other two as well
