Didn’t see much on this trump order. Imo Americans often overlook the greatness of our national parks and forests. Other nations and foreign tourists are very impressed by them but many Americans never visit. “Donald Trump has ordered that swathes of America’s forests be felled for timber, evading rules to protect endangered species while doing so and raising the prospect of chainsaws razing some of the most ecologically important trees in the US.” Trump orders swathes of US forests to be cut down for timber “the president signed two executive orders Saturday that call for the expansion of timber production even for projects that might harm endangered species, and a review of how importing lumber might harm "national security." Trump order calls for immediate expansion of timber production - UPI.com
who knew that canadian lumber is a threat to national security but russian cyberthreats are not? what a f'd up world we have
To Donald Trump this a photo of the beauty of nature: I would add that although it's not quite as cost effective it's possible to harvest timber without the clear cutting pictured in the photo. Example below:
Trump’s deforestation plans are like having unprotected sex with a disease riddled crack whore. Short term pleasure with long term consequences. A living tree is far more valuable than than the wood it provides. The True Value of Trees
"Not quite"? Haha. Don't get this EO. We have plenty of harvestable pine in the US. That's not the problem. The logjam is the actual harvest and production.
Even better if they harm endangered species. Think of how bad that will "own the libs", especially if we could maybe force a species into extinction. Cause for celebration in MAGA world. And don't worry, whatever that species is, it's probably a "lib" anyway.
Of course MAGA will revive the old jokes like “Hey anyone know a good recipe for spotted owl? Har! Har! Har!”
Consider in the near term checking out our national parks & museums before trump closes and/or cuts them down. This can’t be reversed “by the next admin”. “The Trump administration is seeking to cancel the leases for 34 National Park Service buildings, including visitor centers, law enforcement offices and museums that house millions of artifacts. These closures will cripple the Park Service’s ability to operate parks safely and will mean millions of irreplaceable artifacts will be left vulnerable or worse, lost,” Theresa Pierno, president and CEO of the National Parks Conservation Association, said in a statement. “Quite simply and astonishingly, this is dismantling the National Park Service as we know it, ranger by ranger and brick by brick.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2025/03/06/national-park-service-leases-termination/
The trees in the first photo died as the result of beetle kill. I've seen many places out here in Colorado with this devastation. This does not dilute your point, however.
