It’s surprising the level Trump has successfully intimidated repubs to fall in line. Musk is ready to go after anyone who resists.

“When you see important societal actors — be it university presidents, media outlets, C.E.O.s, mayors, governors — changing their behavior in order to avoid the wrath of the government, that’s a sign that we’ve crossed the line into some form of authoritarianism,” said Steven Levitsky, a professor of government at Harvard

“I’m friends with a lot of these guys, and I had wrongly assumed that what was holding them back from speaking out against Trump was they were afraid of losing their jobs,” he said in an interview. “But what they’re afraid of is their own personal security.

Senator Todd Young of Indiana is one Republican who has experienced browbeating from Mr. Musk for not staying in line. After Mr. Young asked tough questions last month at the confirmation hearing of Tulsi Gabbard, now Mr. Trump’s director of national intelligence, Mr. Musk said on social media that Mr. Young was a “deep state puppet.”

Mr. Musk soon deleted his post and said he had spoken to Mr. Young, whom he was suddenly calling “a great ally in restoring power to the people.” Mr. Young went on to confirm Ms. Gabbard”

How the mighty have fallen. They cancelled Trump’s social media and were aiming to jail him before. Now they’re thumb-sucking in fetal position.

Mitt Romney said the same thing when he was in office. He had to hire personal security. He said that there's a lot of Republicans that are afraid to speak out because of safety concerns. It's easy to understand why when you understand MAGA

Trump has his bullies too known as the stock market and unemployment reports. I was going to include Putin but Trump is more Putin’s toadie that kisses up to their bully. The falling stock market forced Trump to abandon his tariff debacle, and unemployment is starting to tick upward though not much. It could be higher because the DOGE effect hasn’t been factored in yet.
