Greenland PM open to talking with Trump

he will probably attend the military parade honoring putins visit to DC to be given the congressional medal of honor.

 

The likely outcome is the US and Greenland will make a deal that involves using Greenland for bases that can be helpful in exploring the Arctic for oil and gas. Russia has 5 nuclear powered icebreakers. The US has 1 non-nuclear icebreaker. Trump and Musk will fix that. Denmark has been a loyal ally. Unlikely we will buy Greenland

Agree that was a bad move and one I suspect those who didn't stand regret. But that was a momentary reaction and not something that's been floating around for a month or two - "Uh, Greenland should be ours! Even if it means using the military!"

 

I am pretty sure that river asked his question first. Neither you nor Oklahoma answered it. Oklahoma only posed his question as a way to deflect from river's question, which was asked first. So if you want somebody to answer Oklahoma's question, why don't either you or he answer river's question that was posed first.

 

How about ensuring the boy’s and others like him medical care continues? Instead of cutting Medicare that will cut health insurance for many, many Americans. Yes “the enemy” non MAGA would go for that. But let’s just watch how that unfolds with the funding bill.

if that kid—or others like him—comes from a low- to modest-income family, who do we think is more likely to support policies that would help with his medical care? Maybe along with the award Trump could announce “I changed my mind, I support ensuring the poor receive healthcare and food.” Yes, I antispate many would support that.

And on clapping, for the kid’s sake they should have applauded. So he can have a total positive experience and not get caught up in our political dysfunction. As I mentioned in the other thread, these congressional protests look dopey on both sides and make each party look worse. But I agree with you, it was un-PC and yes, Democrats should have acknowledged the moment and applauded.

When non-MAGA don’t blindly follow Trump in his hostile take-over of Greenland, doesn’t equate to blanket agree/disagree. That claim is starting to be a red herring for any pushback of awful trump policies.

There is lots that Trump could propose that I would support. I would support him ending the handouts to the fossil fuel industry. That would save some real money.

You know people aren’t opposites on many topics, but varying degrees on a spectrum.

As an independent I’m in favor of balancing the budget, eliminating waste and corruption. I assume th same goes for Democrats. So go for it, Trump. I’m not in favor of indiscriminate cuts that affect people’s lives and the demagoguery that came with it. I’m also not in favor of refusing to pay people for work they’ve already performed.

I’m in favor of securing our border and enforcing immigration policies but it needs to happen in lock step with immigration reform to ensure we don’t hurt our economy and unnecessary disruption lives. I’m not in favor of demonizing people (e.g. Haitians), hanging people out to dry like revoking status for our Afghan allies that helped us in the war, throwing out Ukrainians who are in the midst of a war, etc.

I’m in favor of pursuing peace and ending the war in Ukraine but not under terms that give the bad actor their spoils and further embolden the likes of China or Russia to carry out territorial conquests a fifth time and more.

Dismantle the ACA? Fine, just have a replacement.

Lower taxes? Great, but find a way to do it with balancing the budget he also promised.
