It is a surprise to me as I think it will be too many Gater fans that Condon I believe is probably the best player on the team. Yes Clayton is excellent as is Elijah Martin as is the rest of the team. But when I first saw Condo, I thought yeah he’s tall as heck but he’s too thin to play Down in the blocks with the big guys. He has proved us all wrong. He is a master rebounder and defender. What say you, Gater fans? Who’s the best player on this possibly championship team?
His foot work for his size is pretty damn good. He’s a tall athlete that plays basketball, and getting better each month.
He was the best player vs. Bama but is not for the season. Clayton is in a slump but he reminds me of Barkley in the super bowl. Everyone loved Hurts but Barkley forced the chiefs to have 8 guys in the box and opened the field. Clayton's existence creates space for others. Having said that, Condon is an athletic freak. Those full speed jams thru contact (often uncalled) are ridiculous. If he fully develops as a legitimate 3 point threat and can pop the mid range 2, the sky is the limit. Now the true answer - who cares who the best player is? There are very few unstoppable players. I want the best team and the best player may change by night (Clayton, martin, aberdeen, condon, Haugh...). That is how you win one and out tournaments! Let's Go Gators.
He’s playing outstanding basketball, almost too good. Have a feeling he’s playing himself into a first round pick.
He was beast mode today. Guy is an elite player with both tenacity and skill (rare combination!). The ONLY frustrating thing is he sometimes struggles to finish in the painted area, but I guess just dunking everything takes care of that lol. NBA probably values his face up game way more anyway, but if he could polish off a jump hook he’d be damn unstoppable at this level.
he is the highest rated Gator in NBA mock drafts...anywhere from low 40s to mid 20s (1st round). I really, really hope he comes back next year...but hitting the 3 like he is, his draft stock may continue to rise too high to come back
I'd still say that Clayton is the guy that stirs the drink. But we've got so many guys playing at a high level, any of them could be the best on any given night.
He really is a Horford sophomore clone in some senses. Smart, physical, rebounds at a high level, contests everything at the rim, is very intuitive as a passer and loose ball guy. I honestly think his draft stock will be much higher than some suspect.
Does so many things well….one of my favorites things he does….and it’s SUPER rare for a 5, but crazy effective…. Is he can grab a rebound and immediately start his own break. He has great handles and instincts, and you are fighting for a board one second, you turn and here’s 6’10” with speed and handle coming right down your throat. The pressure it puts on opposing centers is incredible Ironically, Big Al used to do the same thing…..but it is so rare
He has turned into such a great all around player. Really fun to watch him evolve and up his game. Hopefully more to come.
He seems like one of those guys who’s probably the last one to lose his cool, but if you push him past his breaking point, you better be up to date on your health insurance.
Noah was a more dominant defender with super alpha instincts on that end. Condon is actually more skilled in other ways (catching the half-court passes and converting). Both are freaks. Both have a nose for the ball. Condon can catch, shoot, convert. Both are pretty darn good dribblers. Noah could just erase players/teams and that part of the game just might be developing for Condon.
The Aussie-foosball skills can't be overlooked. That contributes to Condon's discrete skill and toughness.
One thing is for certain, our ability to come at teams in waves with Condon, chinyelu, Haugh and Micah, is really effective. All guys 6’9” or above that attack the glass.
His footwork and presence around the basket has really improved since he hurt the ankle. My guess is that in addition to rehab, he spent a lot of time with coaches looking at film.
I see more Horford than Noah, but that's probably because Condon has found a jump shot, noah never had one. Horford has been a legit 3pt threat in the league for a decade now. I think Condon could have a similar run if he keeps progressing at this rate.
He picked a great night to have a great night and played extremely well. Our guards, who everybody seems to want to discount for some weird reason, did a great job of getting the ball inside to him. If THE TEAM can play like this down the stretch it should be fun.
