Official stats have him with 1 turnover 5 rebounds and 22 points. There were a couple of alley oops he missed on they didn't count as turnovers I guess in the first half. Even with that he had another great game overall.
Great floor game. Made some terrific passes that didn't get converted, too. But what really got him going was attacking the rim early. He made some nice 2s, and that opened up a ton of space for him to pass. Just terrific.

It sure felt like he had more than 1 TO last night. I know he has the green light to shoot from the logo, but after a few 1st half misses, I don't recall him shooting from deep in the 2nd. He let the game come to him in the 2nd and scored 22, even with multiple missed layups and FTs.
I mean, it's a time-honored tradition of obsessing over a star player's faults rather than his strengths. You can always find them. But Clayton has been phenomenal. We have basically been a top-10 offense all season long, and you don't do that without a relatively competent point guard and a legitimate scoring threat that teams scheme to take away--and Clayton is both for us. Yes, he can make careless passes or decisions. No, he won't usually tally a ton of assists. Yes, he can take quick shots from the arc rather than breaking teams down of the dribble. Yes, he has lapses defensively where he gets caught ball watching or doesn't fight over a screen or make the right switch. That stuff happens to everyone, though, at all levels of basketball. What we tend to overlook is how insanely productive AND efficient Clayton is playing a lot of minutes and initiating almost all our offense. His usage rate is easily the highest on the team (25+), yet he is shooting an absurdly effective 36% on a team-high 7.6 threes a game and 54% on 5.8 twos a game (second highest on the team!). Statistically, that's terrific, but all the more so when you realize teams have been consistently scheming to take away his ability to create off those high ball screens and the DHOs out of our zoom and horns stuff using hard hedges and blitzes. Then you have the "wow" plays he makes with frequency: the logo threes, the advance passes in transition or against full court pressure, the lobs in a congested paint, the scoop shots against shotblockers, and the pull up mid rangers going full speed. Last night was a perfect example of how good this kid is. He came out insanely aggressive against their drop coverage. Scored 8 of our first 13 points by getting into the paint and getting his shot up as deep as he could. Finally started hitting his jumpers in the second half, then turned it on with his passing. Just read everything correctly: Condon getting behind the drop coverage for lobs, Haugh popping to the wing for threes, guys leaking out in transition when Bama crashed the offensive glass. Cannot believe we only have a handful of games left with this kid. Hope we appreciate how good he is.
Oh, and to think even guys on the Florida beat questioned how our offense would run with him at the point. Our offensive rating at KP is basically 7 pts better than a year ago and the 6th best of the entire KP era. That's unbelievable.
Clayton Jr ended that slump in a big way! So good to see him with confidence going into the post-season
You can see he's a lot more comfortable running the point now than when he started the season, in all facets. His numbers show it too
