More stock market deals coming... wait and see.

By the way, Canada is NOT winning this trade kerfuffle. And it's Trudeau that is the dumb one in all this.

But we are currently trading on the deal WHICH TRUMP PERSONALLY NEGOTIATED in his first term, a deal which Trump lamented as the best trade deal ever. Why is it unfair roughly 5 years later? And what is unfair about it?

I really don’t understand it, so I’m wide open to be convinced.

Nobody can win this trade kerfuffle, EXCEPT CHINA, who will likely be welcomed by our neighbors in short order.

How many times did MAGA sheep mention “Canada tariffs” in this forum before January 2025? I’m guessing 0. Suddenly they’re experts on it though LOL

Not once. This “terrible trade imbalance” was not discussed here.

Tariffs will force several countries to reconsider their onerous tariffs on American goods and services.

Wasn't the USMCA that Trump negotiated in 2019 and he signed in 2020 supposed to have that effect?
Remarks by President Trump at a USMCA Celebration with American Workers | Warren, MI – The White House
From Trump in his speech when he signed the USMCA
"The USMCA is the fairest, most balanced, and beneficial trade agreement we have ever signed into law. It’s the best agreement we’ve ever made, and we have others coming. And, by the way, the China deal, two weeks ago, was just signed. And that’s going to bring $250 billion into our country. (Applause.) One after another.

But we’re bringing your jobs back to America. Jobs are coming back, and they’re coming back fast, and they’re coming right here to Michigan. They are coming rapidly. You see what’s going on. (Applause.)"

The USMCA is an especially big win for American auto workers. And we will create up to 80,000 — minimum — 80,000 — probably about 120,000 — new jobs. And that’s something that you haven’t seen. But over the last couple of years, you’ve been seeing what’s happening. It’s coming back. It’s all coming back.

Trump said vaguely that we subsidize Canada $200B a year.

No thinking person has a clue what this means. Maybe a 4-5x overestimate of trade deficit? Certainly not "subsidies" or tariffs. But it's been said and so it is believed. Plus commie...

But what was so onerous about the trade deal which Trump negotiated with Canada a few years ago?

Maybe Trump is conflating our trade surplus with Canada, which obviously benefits American manufacturing?

Almost all goods were DUTY FREE due to the USMCA and the few that are levied duty are at 2-14% negotiated by Trump himself. What exactly is the issue? Fentanyl?

    They cheat.

In Socialism... they don't care about the health of their people. Trudeau is a cancer on a good country's citizenry.

Trump lies about everything, but that is easy to fact check now… The US lost 50,000 auto plant jobs while Donny was president….

Funny part is, Tariffs bascially are socialism in action. We all pay more for products so maybe some US factory workers can keep their jobs.

Not only did Trump personally negotiate the deal (the USMCA) he used language to the effect that it was the greatest trade deal ever.

Incensed Canadian retailers removing from stock American products they’ve already paid for. That’ll teach us!
