Canada and Mexico will be forced into recession by the escalating tariffs which is why a deal will get done. Those countries are hurt way worse than the US

What “deal” are you looking for? The last deal—Trump’s landmark legislation (New NAFTA), is what is guiding trade between the three countries.

IDK. I think the leaders go with what the rabble wants or at least what they say they want. Kristi Noam isn't exactly a wellspring of new ideas. The woman's a complete idiot. Imagine telling your editor, "Yeah, keep the dog story in the autobiography". That is a level of stupid I'm not familiar with, just to-the-bone stupid.

Canada tariffs our goods to the tune of $100+ billion, in American dollars, per year... screw that.

You think Canada and Mexico are going to keep going back and forth and run their economies into the ground? Eventually you say uncle. They don’t really have much of any leverage.

They're so dumb it's just mind boggling. Ironically, it WAS a great deal and something Trump deserves some credit for.

But let's tear it apart. . . because Trump decided to change his mind. . . and because we're a mindless lemming with ZERO agency over our thoughts.

I think they will turn elsewhere to trade.

But my question remains —what’s your end game? What kind of “deal” do you want? And is that “deal” so spectacular that it ruined 200 years of friendship?

Uncle to what? You haven't answered the question. What are "we" trying to achieve? Keeping those 6 pounds of Canadian fentanyl out?

Trump's ego is such is that he will run the economies of Canada, Mexico and the US into the ground before admitting that he was wrong and could end up damaging the economies of the EU and China and maybe several other countries in the process. Apparently the stable genius is completely ignorant regarding of the disastrous impact of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff act because if he had even rudimentary knowledge of economic history he wouldn't be trying the same policy again. It didn't work in 1930 and it will fail again in 2025.

They import about $400B and you think there are $100B of tariffs??? Almost ALL products got into Canada duty free as a result of USMCA. Trump negotiated the two areas that do get tariffs from the US which is about 2% on non-agricultural and about 14% on ag goods. Those were listed out specifically by Trump in the last agreement. They total about $12B a year that Canada charges its consumers.. about 3.8%. This war is over that piddly amount. I linked the detail PDF from the WTO.

You have NO idea what Canada tariffs on us every single year.

Trump tariffs are designed to bring fair trade to our two nations.

If it’s Canadian tariffs, then Canadian consumers pay for that…. Why do you care?

Edit, I can City already smacked you down, I made the mistake of assuming what you posted is true….

Is it over the 46 total pounds of fetanyl, or is it to bring “fair trade”?

If you think these tariffs are all about fentanyl then you are mistaken. It's also about fair, equal, reciprocal trade.

One more thing, screw socialism in Canada... Screw Trudeau.

uh... what do you think i linked? I linked how much Canadian tariffs are. Guess what? They are now reflecting 25% on US cars to Canada. They were ZERO PERCENT. Here is the government portal. Look for yourself.

We'll see. Americans are the most spoiled people on Earth. We're going to raise holy hell if prices go higher, with no end in sight. I don't think we have the leverage the MAGA thinks we do.
