Liberals, like the practitioners of voodoo in Africa and Haiti, are driven to despair by unseen forces. Like "implied bigotry," "systemic racism," "white privilege," and "unconscious bias,". Like the victims of voodoo they often resolve their issues by making payments to witch doctors.

Obama put on a moderate face during his first term. In his second term the mask was off and as Steve Sailer had predicted, mental illness among young people rose sharply. Rises in mental illness were mostly top-down effects, as was seen in Mao's cultural revolution. The Biden administration has been described as "Obama's third term."

Another explanation for rises in mental illness is the switch from flip phones to smartphones in 2012. Kids payed less attention to teachers (the rise in NAEP and PISA reversed) and they became disconnected from their parents. Kid's happiness became less correlated with parental happiness. Per Jonathan Haidt.

Concentrating people in small areas seems to be associated with mental illness and liberalism (think blue cities). Virtue signaling becomes a must, it seems. People become disconnected from reality. People in (red) rural areas might have slightly lower IQ's but they have more common sense and one would expect, less mental illness.

I would imagine that liberals are more likely than conservatives to consult a psychiatrist and so receive a diagnosis. Also, atheists have higher rates of anxiety and depression or so I’ve read.

Well, you do have to have mental capacity before you can have mental health issues. Too many conservatives seem to be lacking in mental capacity. It makes things easier when the Great Con-man comes a calling with new (crackpot) ideas. The U.S. has too many zombies who will believe anything.

I wonder which group has the lowest rate of mental health diagnoses?

Scientologists probably wouldn't be a bad guess.

While this is intriguing data, it doesn’t take into account that conservatives are less likely to report mental illness symptoms or seek medical help for said symptoms. It could be easily explained as "Liberals seek assistance for mental health conditions more than conservatives do" and the data would still look like this.

That seems common sense to me, to be frank. And its quite a stretch to assume that an ideological perspective could somehow alter brain chemistry. Given there is no peer reviewed evidence to suggest that is even possible.

My guess would be white Christian conservatives. They believe anyone with mental health issues is possessed by demons, and can only be cured by donating heavily to that TV preacher with a huge church in Texas, or Rick Scott which is probably the same guy.

Come on. That's a pretty ridiculous claim about a very large group of people.

That’s probably what I’d say if I was hiding a mental illness.
    Scary stuff.

    Ummmmm okay.

“Christians suffering from mental illness often hesitate to seek psychiatric care. The reasons for this are varied and numerous, but oftentimes the cause lies within our Christian communities which, at times, seem to stigmatize mental illness or suggest that psychiatric symptoms are the result of personal sin.”

Educating the Conservative Evangelical Church about Mental Illness – CMDA Psychiatry Section.

“In one survey of Protestant Christians in Australia, 36.6% of respondents indicated that mental illness might be caused by demon possession and beliefs in demons and possession as a cause of mental illness are not uncommon amongst psychiatric patients, even in Europe”
