The #5 Gators opened their season today in Baltimore vs. #11 Johns Hopkins. In a very tight match that was tied 6-6 at halftime, the Gators fell behiund in the 4th quarter, but scored 3 goals in the last 3:21, the go-ahead goal with 18 seconds left, to win 12-11. Johns Hopkins outshot Florida 37-19 and beat them in draw controls 15-7. But Gator goaltender Georgia Hoey had 10 saves to keep the Gators in the match and allow them to pull it out in the end. Just an FYI - The Florida Lacrosse program moved to the Big 12 in the offseason and are favorites to win that conference in their 1st year. Other teams in the league are: UC Davis, San Diego State, Cincinnati, Colorado and Arizona State. So far, 11 of our 17 matches are scheduled to be televised, but only on ESPN+. Next up is a home game Sunday at 11 am on ESPN+ against Kennesaw State. Go Gators! Forgot the season opener. The offense will be work in progress as we lost a ton of goal production to graduation. Go Gators
Yep - Gator lacrosse started in 2010. We won the now defunct American Lacrosse Conference in 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014. Then we joined the Big East and won it in 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018. The came the American Athletic Conference, which we won in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2024. In 2023 we finished 2nd. Incredible consistent for Amanda O'Leary's teams.

The Hamilton girl, the #4 A from Atlanta and a lefty, has four goals and two others disallowed, is fun to watch vs Kennesaw State. Take a look at our top 10 career goal scorers and in four years she’ll replace one of them-imho. Our defense is solid. Go Gators
Yep that was the big difference to me and we're usually foo in that area. Had a free position shot to tie the game with just under 3 minutes left and couldn't make the shot. Then had 2 more shots at goal in the last 30 seconds or so and couldn't score. We lost a ton of talent and experince off last year's Final 4 team.
We don't play another ranked team all year, so I'd imagine we'll end up pretty highly ranked. It definitely seems as though there's a bit of a drop-off from last year, but it's hard to complain about what Amanda has done with this program.
Nice win. Here's a link to the article about the game. No. 9 Gators Gallop Past Greyhounds in Wire-to-Wire Victory - Florida Gators
