Ron Slay was cracking me up last night! He has been very complimentary of the Gators this season. I enjoyed his silly antics and creative commentary; he also provided serious analysis during the game. One thing though, he kept referencing "Andy's Ribs" in Gville when in actuality, the restaurant name is Adam's Ribs.

Did anyone else enjoy his commentating last night?

Not really. Thought they were both obnoxious. TBF though, I don't really like any of the talking heads.

Nope, he and his partner were both awful. Talked about anything and everything but the game. Clown show

I thought he was great. Nice change of pace from Jimmy Dykes and the like. I might get tired of him eventually, but I wouldn’t mind if he calls the rest of our games this season.

I’ve only seen highlights but he sounded positive about our guys. He was a Vol I enjoyed watching.

    They were ok.
I like Slay much more as an announcer than I did as a player. He and Tony Harris … ugh. I hated that UT team.

Was that the team that knocked out Noah's tooth?

No. That was later. Slay was talking about playing against the likes of Mike Miller and company.

i liked it, always commends great play which he has been telling the world, watch out for Florida. A true southerner, went to high school in Nashville.
He sounds like a lot of friends I had on sports teams coming up. Very nice person. If you come to the SEC tournament you can get up close to him and thank him for the kinds words he has been giving Florida. He cracks me up with his things that make him laugh and usually me too.
He is a personality that loves basketball. He and Patrick Young always talk up the Gators. I grew up in The panhandle of Florida and I know everyone’s speech is slow and slurred. Part of being from the south. I am sure a lot of transplants in Florida don’t appreciate his speech but he is a great for southerners that follow SEC basketball. He is pushing Tommy Haugh for sixth man of the year in D1 basketball. I haven’t heard any announcer on all the games I have watched, go out on a limb like him. Thanks Ron Slay!

I generally think they are all good. The constant bashing is weird to me. Dykes is very knowledgeable. Slay is a little goofy which is fine, and Mike Wise is great ( yes that biased I know)

Dykes is a bit gimmicky with his repetitive phrases, but I think he is excellent.

Ron Slay was one of the most annoying players that we played against. Mostly because he was good.

I like a guy who gives a good analysis during the game. The play by play guy can add a little humor and side stories to the game. Slay although humorous, needs to be at SEC network central along with Dari and Fish.

I liked Slay more than I expected considering his playing days at UT. Very positive and entertaining. Much better than Fishback.

Used to also like Dykes a lot, still ok, but think he has regressed after his failed coaching tenure.

I enjoyed it. I found him funny and insightful and recognized a good play when it happens. I hate it when the play by play and color guy seem to be watching their phones or something. Slay was very into the game and brought an energy that was positive and on point.

I think he could slide the bar one click towards insightful commentary and away from silly jokes, and something tells me he'll be getting opportunities to do that

All SEC first team his senior year, 21 ppg, 7 or 8 rbs, his shot was deadly, confirms his greatness. Also 3rd team All American. Yes very annoying to any opposing teams.

Thanks for your take. My take? I would have preferred a root canal. To each their own.

He seems to know what is his schtick in the hype. I would say he is as good as Jesse Palmer in all things football. And that is not as much as I would want.
