Is it your position that the US should continue pumping US$ (incurring additional debt) into a war the Ukraine is seemingly unable to win and continues to kill thousands of military and civilians …. so US corporations can generate additional revenues? I’m going to guess these corporations operate in a 10-15% pretax . which would result in approximately $.125 in taxable income on every $ of revenue. Using the highest incremental tax rate of 37% ….. the result is the US Treasury will collect $.046 for every US$ spent on munitions for Ukraine with US corporations. I’m not sure that’s a wise use of US taxpayer money …. especially considering the best “return” is the war in Ukraine remains a stalemate.
my thought is that we don't stop Putin now we will be fighting him later, sure negotiate something fair to both parties....but with assurances that if Russia starts aggression again Ukraine can enter NATO....remember Putin is a killer of innocents, kidnapped 20,000 Ukrainian children and murdered 100's of civilians in Bucha....he is a bad dude....full disclosure I have Ukrainian blood in my veins ( my grandmother who I knew escaped Ukraine when she was 12 )

I understand that Putin is a bad dude but at what price do Americans continue to fund a war that appears to have no end? This has been done several times over the past 80 years and we should have learned by now these engagements are burdens Americans really shouldn’t bare. Let the EU fund the war ….

Okay, I’ll play along …. what needs to be done to “stop Putin” ….. and how much will it cost the US taxpayer? Why not agree to a cease fire and have the UN actually do something…. say, oversee a referendum in the area of Ukraine under Russian control to determine what the majority of those people want to do. The EU and the UN need to actually do something beyond spewing forth meaningless rhetoric when it comes to Ukraine.
the UN is worthless...and the EU has spent more than the US in Ukraine....still think negotiate ceasefire, divide into West and East Ukraine...install EU peacekeepers in DMZ...and threaten inclusion of Ukraine in NATO if Putin continues aggression and US needs to be on board with this....unfortunately this may not happen under Trump who admires Putin and would gladly give up Europe for Greenland, Panama, etc......nice discussion....thanks...and ps....let those people in those areas choose where they want to live, if thats possible...
my son works for a Naval Architecture firm who designs patrol/Navy Seal boats....Norway just recently received permission to have one built for them...do you think Russia, China, N. Korea would get similar approval?...yes I know this to be true
Your vision is clouded. The war will end in less than 18 months when Russia's economy collapses, according to experts. Russia has a very limited timetable to win this war, and the more desperate they are for progress, the more of their troops get killed in meat-wave attacks, which is about all they know how to do at this point. Their navy is done, their special forces are done, they are running out of tanks and missiles, they ran out of North Koreans, and they have to be running low on artillery barrels at this point. They still have not attained air superiority, and Ukrainian drones have driven the airfields that Russia can use back several hundred miles. Ukraine has done an excellent job of targeting refineries and fuel depots as well as weapons caches, so Russia has some logistical issues that are slowing them down. Also, Ukraine is coming up on seven months of taking land in Kursk, and Russia cannot get them out. And the Russians are in a slow retreat in eastern Ukraine at the moment. So far, Ukraine is doing all of the winning they need to do. It's not a Hollywood movie ending, but they are getting the job done. They are holding all of the cards except one: support from the U.S. The EU is funding the war. The EU is investing more money supporting Ukraine than the U.S. is. We are not engaged in a war with Russia any more than we were when Russia invaded Afghanistan in the 1980's. We are (or were) supporting a country fighting for its freedom, without committing any active troops. We have spent a small fraction of one year's budget for national defense over the last three years. Since Russia is about 40% of the reason that we spend money on national defense, we would be justified in spending about $960 billion over the last three years on Ukraine ($800B/yr x 3 years x 40%). (In actuality, we would be justified in spending a lot more than that, since it is not every year that Russia invades a neighbor.) We've spent almost nothing ($183B) compared to that. Peanuts. If that leaves you clutching your pearls and your purse, remember that if we get Russia to lose this war and their economy collapses (like it did in 1990), we will save about $2.5 trillion in defense spending over the next decade (like we did in the 1990's). Why don't you want to save that much money?

I used to work in the industry. There are definitely black listed countries you can't sell to. A higher up in my division went to jail for knowingly selling to a country that turned around and sold to a blacklisted country.
