Posthumous pardons are, generally speaking, dumb.

In terms of federal presidential posthumous pardons, there haven’t been many of them: Clinton pardoned the first black Army officer who was later convicted of conduct unbecoming, W. pardoned a businessman who had been convicted of smuggling three B-17 bombers to the fledgling Israeli government, and Trump issued four in his first term - Susan B. Anthony, Jack Johnson, a guy who assisted the Manhattan Project but was later convicted under the Sherman Act, and a guy who built a large Louisiana tug boat business but was convicted of a count of conspiracy to traffic cocaine based on participating in one recorded conversation.
