True. My guess is before long something Trump does will tank his popularity and it won’t come back. It will be totally self inflicted. Then the economy will either stumble or tank completely coupled with at least modest inflation. I think his tirade against Zelensky was a pretty bad luck although most people don’t care that much about foreign policy.

It is going to be a tough 2 years for the country but probably what we needed to jolt it back to reality.

I truly don't know anybody personally besides the obvious libs that dislike Trump or feel differently about our President since he was elected, if anything he gained support, and our citizens love it except those federal workers

The DNC is already suing President Trump for making sure that there will NOT be any voter fraud in the 2026 elections.

Pretty much agree, sadly. As my wife says it's a waste of time debating politics these days. There's facts and there's "alternative facts".

Let us hope that there are fair and private midterm elections. Trumps favorite people usually when by astronomical margins.

Typical Republican - coward, runs away from his electorate when he refuses to answer on why he supports DOGE firing Vets (personally, glad they are not a protected class and feeling the pain of their own stupidity at the ballot box).

At least this House Rep from Texas did not tuck his tale and runaway. However, no matter how desperately he tried to show that what un-elected, no oversight President Musk is doing is akin to what Clinton did in the 90's. Either those folks were smart enough to not fall for it (unlikely) or were pissed off enough that they did not care (likely).

That Roger Marshall video clip had an interesting comment from the audience: "I'm not a Democrat, but I'm concerned about the veterans."

    So rich. lol.

The politicians are afraid to say ... "Yeah, what Trump and Musk are doing is pretty awful ..."
And then there's the lame "Uh, Clinton did it too ..."

Jeesk that was bad even for a politician.

vets do make up a decent percentage of total fed workers, roughly 30%.

There are also special rules for hiring and firing US Vets in the Federal Civil Service. All of those rules have been thrown right out the window by President Musk.

I imagine it’s tough for musk and trump to relate to ideas like helping the less fortunate, serving your country, Preserving national parks ..,

There’s definitely rules for hiring veterans. Veterans get preference in civil service positions (which presumably is why 30%+ are vets).

Not sure about firing. That would make less sense to not be able to fire 10 or 20 years later over vet status. At that point it should be same civil service protection as anyone else, nothing more nothing less.

I know there are rules for hiring. In scoring of candidates, veterans get 5 or 10 points added to their scores depending on their service. No clue what rules exist for firing which is why I asked since the post stated there are special rules for firing of veterans.

They are afraid because Musk promised to throw millions to a primary opponent if they go against him

    Somewhere in Time

The best method of deterring China is to ensure Russia loses the war in Ukraine.

What I hear Trump saying is that "we don't want to deter China, we want to fight them, so Ukraine is on its own."

What he is really doing is letting Russia off the hook because he works for them.

Then he will plunge us into a war with China, so Russia can rearm and invade Europe.
