Kenleigh singles to CF on an 0-1 pitch for her 4th hit this game.

 

Carolina handlingj Duke fairly well.. today's pitcher is a righty and has this odd drift to the right on release. You can't see hardly any pitch placements because she drifts into the camera view. Kind of completely opposite most pitchers

 

Mia singles to CF on a 1-0 pitch. Runners on 1st & 2nd, 2 outs.

 

Ava ends the game with a 3-run HOME RUN to left field on a 1-0 pitch. Gators win 11-2.

 

Just an FYI for everybody. Western Michigan is now 5-10. They got beat yesterday by Troy 7-4 and Florida A&M 8-7. That game will probably get UGKY fast.

 

Sydney LittleJohn Watkins has done a great job in color for the WRUF broadcast of the SB game. A shoutout to her.

 

I think AK probably got a bit of a raw deal having to be the 2nd catcher and it allowed Cahalan to take majority of reps on 3rd

Cahalan had herself a day! Was a vacuum ar 3rd and hit lights out. The team also went nuits for Ava's walk off!!! So happy for her.

 

I highly doubt in this age with NIL and the portal that you can get a grad transfer from Washington with one year to play and a transfer from Bama with two years to play and no guarantee they won't be sitting on the bench. They will go elsewhere if no guarantee. As far as I know Walton does not make guarantees to high school recruits....just "you will get every chance to prove yourself". You simply can't say that to a portal kid. Common sense.

 

I don't think any of us knows the full story of why Kowalewski transferred to Texas A&M. I do know that when she came to Florida she had been primarily a catcher, but worked her tail off to win the 3rd base job last year against pretty stiff competition. She ended up 6th on last year's team in hitting at .308 with 8 HR, 33 RBI, 21 BB, 24 K's and 3-3 SB. She only made 3 errors, fielding .978. Excellent freshman season.
Kenleigh Cahalan was the #1 rated high school player by Perfect Game (Alabama HS POY) when Alabama signed her and played SS for 2 years for the Tide, leading them last year in BA at .296. and was All-SEC 2nd team. After today's first game, she's #4 on the Gator team with a .433 BA, 5 HR, 31 RBI, 7 BB, 4 K's, 3-3 SB. She's made 4 errors, fielding at .946.
AK adjusted as a freshman to playing 3rd, Cahalan has adjusted in her junior year from playing SS to 3B. I really liked AK and was saddened when she transferred. But I'm thrilled with the way Cahalan is playing right now. I wish AK well in the future except when she plays us. But I always pull for the team that we have and am all in for Kenleigh.

 

Yikes Western Michigan gets 2-run HR off Ava in the top of the 1st.

 

I think she would have played plenty if she stayed here, a lot more than she’ll play for tamu this year.

I think it had more to do with her boyfriend/family than anything else.
