It is all about a bully trying to take advantage of the situation to benefit trump and Putin. Don't know why Vance was there but he acted like a total ass essentially throwing gasoline on the situation.
You remind me of those guys who like to talk tough about how strong our military is, but doesn’t want to spend a dime on taking care of those military members who were disabled during a war so you could talk tough. The Ukrainians have been fighting a proxy war for the United States against a communist adversary and have sacrificed greatly while making Russia weaker than ever. You should be more appreciative.

Russia spent a lot of lives and treasure on their invasion, I’m quite sure they didn’t do that so the U.S. could pilfer it. I don’t think the idea of the U.S. getting some exclusive deals is crazy in exchange for continued U.S..suppport, but the way Trump handled it definitely is and his ask is off the rails (more than double what we gave as aid, in fact). I’m just trying to wrap my mind around the idea you think the Russian invasion of Ukraine ends by sending in… (checks notes) thousands of American mine workers. Ukranian miners are just going to sit their unemployed while thousands of Americans come in and pilfer their resources, and the Russians will also just… leave… and stop attacking to clear the way for U.S. mining? Or do we not even wait for Russia’s withdrawal and send in the miners daring anyone to attack?

It is true the Trump admin opened the door on U.S. weapons in Ukraine. It’s possible he didn’t really know much about it until after the fact. He had a pretty respected team of military advisors in his 1st term, including some very hawkish people (what some would call neo-cons). So my guess is somebody had to talk him into it and explain how it would make him look tough. Considering the guy is still using the “Obama just sent you blankets” line we can guess how easy that pitch was! Remember when the invasion started Trump called it genius and that Putin would have Ukraine for almost nothing. After the fact he of course wants to take the credit for Ukraine’s defense, while also somehow disparaging everyone but Russia.
There’s a caveat to the javelin missile thing. The missiles were provided but they had to be stored in Western Ukraine and have yet to be used. The U.S. did provide training so now I expect we’ll see them used .
The resources crap is a canard designed to appeal to the average dumbshit American voter. Rare Earth's aren't rare, they're just dirty as hell to produce (why we let China have it). Ukraine doesn't have that much in resources and it would take a decade to see any return on it. Typical dumb Trump, dumb MAGA with their dumb ideas making fools of themselves on live TV.
