The main article on the home page spells out, which i think was widely known that Caden Jones was not playing in '23, his freshman season, because of a long standing injury though he was raw as it was too. Iirc this injury was something continuing from high school that he lost some time from his senior season though he played in the all America game. Lovett, also a '23, redshirted because of depth the same year, but despite being younger than Jones and physically needed a redshirt year, he had a lot more practice reps coming into '24, so Jones was left in the dust when in the fall camp Jones had more minor injuries. We really haven't seen what Jones has and he is likely not going to be pushed aside because the staff thinks he has SEC starter ability, just like Waites has gotten a lot of chances. I also don't see him getting a lot of reps in '25, but '26 could be wide open for opportunities after he finally has a full year of practice, well into his 3rd year. Wagnoy is interesting because he came up through the European club model where they play more throughout the year and move up in competition (age) through development and get to train with adults if they are promising. That makes a difference, and our system doesn't really have a comparison with that experience. Portnjagin got a similar experience through his semiprofessional football in Germany.
Cool. I'll post all pre spring OL stuff in the main article thread. Got a few threads going and we can leave this one for twitter stuff.
