This whole renaming of the Gulf is just bizarre. I've been well-acquainted with the Gulf of Mexico for the last multiple decades, being a native Key Wester, and I will never call it the Gulf of America. It's not about partisan politics, it's just plain "common sense!"

 

It is a bit sad how badly they need validation. They are having daddy issues by proxy now.

What's funny is that some Florida politicians proposed replacing what was the generally accepted name of a highway for close to 100 years to please a narcissistic politician who decided to change what was the generally accepted name of a body of water for around 400 years. By the way Nakhodka Bay a body of water in Russia on the Sea of Japan was also referred to as the Gulf of America over a hundred years before Donald Trump decided to use the name to refer to the Gulf of Mexico.
