So, was the D improvement Robert’s winning personality or the players saying you have to simplify this.?
Tampering already? Freaking POS... https://247sports.com/college/flori...en-waters-backs-off-uf-commitment--245657139/
What's your point? Recruiting is still a trust, relationship, and development business, regardless of NIL. He trusts Harris, not so much our HC or his newer staff. Of course, he decommitted. Napier made his staffing decisions and this is the fall out. He's not gone, he may recommit. We should hope our secondary is lights out and scUM's is terrible. He's 17, he's "hurt", and the coach that promised to develop him into an NFL talent left the program under suspicious circumstances. You can't be so gator-centric that you don't understand that. We should hope this wasn't a surprise to our HC.
Reported he made 7.7 plus 14.9? That would make me say "whoa!" Edit: Holy kaka, it's true. Why did he receive that much money? Miami Hurricanes paid coach Mario Cristobal record amount in 2022
I wouldn’t call this tampering. He’s committed, that means nothing. We have coaches talking to “committed” players all the time, is it tampering then?
All or most of the above. From the video, it sounds like Harris was required to take a pay cut and have less responsibility which weakens his resume. Did scUM offer better money for the same or expanded role? That part we don't know. Re recruiting, we have to wait and see if at the end of the cycle it hurts us that Harris was already in on so many DB prospects. If we beat scUM, have an equal or improved DB group, and a better than expected season, we will be fine. I just don't want to lose great Florida prospects to miami. I imagine Harris knows how a secondary should defend against our offense so we'll see how that game transpires.
There is no longer tampering. Kids can go where they want. Was not enrolled, had not signed any type of scholarship commitment, not longer LOIs, UM in ACC so not like ETN or Princely transferring in conference. This is a highest bidder game now. We lost his position coach and he wants to reassess. Has been costing Miami often during last year. May have flipped anyway for the $$$
Seems like that has been in the works for awhile. We all knew it was coming when he just got a big bump in the rankings.
If they’re paying that for what is IMO an average coach and plus recruiter they could have severely overpaid Harris just to piss us off.
I understand (but may be wrong) this kid was considered a soft commit anyway . . . kept taking trips to scUM. Kinda' projected as a potential flip-flopper but there's a long way to the finish line for his class. Plus, he's a kid.
Sure seems like we have had a lot of turmoil in the assistant coaching ranks. Hard to believe it’s all part of Napier’s ‘plan’. These days though, maybe it’s par for the course.
Totally agree with you. Lets see how much of a connection Sunseri will have with the current defensive players and how much of that gets out to DB's who are looking to flip their commitment or go to the UF via the portal. Hopefully he can do some poaching for UF.
Why not do away with coaches and just have analysts? It would save a lot of money. Aren't analysts former coaches? Of course I guess they are former coaches for a reason.
Yes, way too much movement. I don't know if this is a symptom of the NIL era or what, but it would be nice to have some stability to build something. I support any coach who wants to be at Florida, and any coach that makes a lateral move to a rival (that was not pushed out or fired) can suck it. Although, this was a very fast hire and may have already been in the works before Harris left.
