Why can't we have nice things for more than a minute. Ugh. This blows, a few recruits are already expressing their dismay over the move. Some were already considering Miami, too. Don't see the good in this one just yet. Go GATORS.
How does Billy let something like this happen? This is crazy. I honestly think between this and no OC, I will be shocked if Billy survives next year. DJ will have to be unreal. This just smells of the same stubbornness leading him to stay OC.
Leaving the Gators is one thing, but going to the enemy that we play early next year is a b!t@h move. I hope our DC makes the proper changes and makes that scUMmy school pay dearly.
I will say this again. Napier may have a damn good idea of what he wants in players' size/traits for each position and what makes them tick mentally, but it is entirely plausible he has NO idea of how to select assistant coaches, realize they have to work with each other, and they need to be capable of giving straight forward instruction/tweaking to the players. It all feels like the last thing was Armstrong's downfall. Is Roberts in the middle of a coaching riff and Harris is a symptom of it? It does not smell very good, but for Napier, it is plainly ALL about what happens with Lagway until further notice. How things crapped out with our defensive coaches over the last couple of years is bizarre. But until I see where they moved on and caught fire outside of Napier's influence I will keep it in the "TBD" column.
And besides the fact that Harris has taken a job with UM, what else posted on this forum is nothing more? I prefer to use the word "opinion".
I hate losing a very good coach who plugged obvious holes we had in the secondary. I wish we had thrown more money at him and let go a few of the low-performing members of the “army” of assistants. And I’m concerned more holes will open if he gets some players to portal to the U. It consistently feels as if we begin to get the ship righted by addressing a key need and then Georgia, LSU, or the U pry open boosters’ deep pockets to take talent we have recognized and helped develop.
There were reports that we had interviewed a Maryland DC. Their defensive play caller is also their DL coach. Their CB coach is a CO-DC and at the top of my list for replacing Harris.
I hate losing Harris. My first reaction was we really screwed up bringing in another young, energetic coach in to help in the secondary but award him the title of Co DC. This would hurt, disappoint, and anger me if I were in Harris shoes. But it may be that Miami was in his ear and it was imminent that he was going to jump ship. Regardless of the WHY, it hurts and the level of secrecy surrounding today’s football programs assures that we will probably never know.
"All 8 plays"....freaking finally Billy is adapting and opening up the offense!...Last year the Miami DC said we only ran 5-7 plays. Will our fancy new scoreboard handle the extra digit when we go over 99 points? Miami admits they easily predicted Florida Football's offense
