The only logical way to explain all these hostage releases are that the foreign countries involved are responding to President Trump’s strength. The releases are happening so soon after his inauguration, now barely three weeks removed. Think about it, if it were merely a matter of negotiating a trade, the other countries would’ve held out longer in attempt to negotiate a better deal. A lot longer than three weeks, that’s for sure. And let’s not ignore the fact that President Donald J Trump has made it very obvious his intent to secure these hostages. Therefore other leaders know where his priorities are and could have easily used that as leverage in the negotiations if they did not respect his strength. So it is most definitely a reflection of President Trump’s leadership. I am not sure why so many seem to have a problem understanding that a president can properly flex American muscle around the world. We have, by far, the strongest military on the planet and bases everywhere. Not to mention our allies with us. It is not as if it is a difficult thing to leverage that kind of strength. Especially not for a man who made his name on negotiating deals in the toughest and most competitive real estate market in the world. I believe the reason some struggle with these concepts goes back to the Marxist ideals that everyone’s contribution to the world is equally valuable. What a flawed and perverted way of thought. Obviously, there are certain individuals that have a lot more to contribute to humanity than others. And there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging this. I mean, it makes sense that most presidents, regardless of their ideology, likely have certain strengths that are renowned compared to most other people in the world. It is OK to admit President Trump is good at something. He is a good negotiator. Perhaps one of the best negotiators to ever grace the Oval Office.
Hamas remembers the dismantling of ISIS. It would be the same and yet a quicker outcome for Hamas if they choose not to play ball. The current deal wouldn’t even be in place without Trump’s leadership.
How surprised he must have been when he left Russia only to come home to Russia. Putin's hand is so far up Trump's ass he probably told him goodbye in Moscow and hello in D.C.
What an amazingly delusional and naive take you posted there! Putin kept this hostage for his pet so Trump could pretend he did something while bending over for the Kremlin, which is exactly what he is doing now. It is so embarrassing to see a country of strong warriors who identify with our country's own struggle to be free from a foreign power, be carved up and handed over by Putin's puppet. Only a weak President puts unqualified sycophants and lackies of Putin in positions where they can tell him how great he is while he tears the country apart. Why your idea of a strong man is a craven money launderer for the Russian mob, we will never know. MAGA cucks must be spineless like Trump, with these sad, unpatriotic posts which fail to see the obvious.
Perhaps. Another logical way to explain it is the value of an exchange was indeed asymmetric in a vacuum but a loss or win on balance. Since we don’t know the value “not much” with the recent release of Fogel, his deal might appear good, but a loss in other negotiations on going. We don’t know since the Administration didn’t give details. personally, I don’t rate Trump’s hostage deals as good or bad. His goal should be to build a lasting “Trump Doctrine” that erased the need for hostage negotiations or establish a lasting soft power that made taking US hostages a dumb idea for terrorists. Wishful thinking.
I despise Trump, but he is a great negotiator. For example, he only had to say 2 words to the Taliban to end the war in Afghanistan. The 2 words were “ We surrender.”
Trump is following the same playbook in Ukraine that he followed with the war in Afghanistan. He negotiated the US withdrawal with the Taliban without giving the then government of Afghanistan a seat at the table. He's doing the same with Ukraine, he's essentially negotiating the surrender of Ukraine directly with Russia without giving Zelensky and Ukraine a seat at the table.
I just don’t remember him campaigning on making Canada the 51st state and buying Greenland. I get why he might want this. But on this narrow score he does not appear to be winning.
How soon until he removes sanctions and hands back all Russia's money they launder in our Western economies, but which should go to rebuild Ukraine? My guess is he hands it to them with an apology note while his Swiss bank account pings with a deposit in the coming weeks, because it's RUSSIA's money after all. Of course that didn't stop them from criticizing when Iran's money, which had been held for 40 years, was returned. Guess we can say that Trump is giving Russia money to re-arm to attack us and our allies again! Should be fun, because we won't have any allies at this rate! So FU Europe, who came to our aid during 9/11, FU Ukraine - why would anyone would want then as a friendly nation of determined fighters against Russia aggression? No, let's cozy up to North Korea and Hungary while we dream of Greenland and PA-NA-MA! Fing insanity!
Which begs the question, what did Trump sacrifice to get the release. When asked the Trump administration said it was “complicated” leaving people to come to ridiculous conclusions like the OP. Most likely Trump arranged to trade Fogel for Alexander Vinnik, a Russian national and money launderer. If that’s the case it flies in the face of what Trump did in his first term, and Trump’s attacks on Biden for doing the exact same thing. I’m glad Fogel is home but we all know Trump gave up plenty. However it is entertaining reading the posts from Trump supporters twisting themselves into pretzels attempting to prop up the most embarrassing and weak President in American history.
