You too. Now we just need Oklahoma to wake up and take down Auburn

I think UCF has talked of canceling their spring game as well.

Food for thought ...let's say UF recruited a freshman who never really saw the field his first year. Say he was homesick or had a nagging injury that just wouldn't heal, whatever. Then during winter conditioning and spring practice the kid gets it all together and just blows up. He's bigger, stronger, faster and more intense. He matured and grew up.

The gator coaches can't wait to see him play in the fall. All his teammates are shocked then stoked for him. Other schools know nothing about his emergence.
As a gator fan in today's NIL thieves world I don't want the new him exposed to the world until the fall. I don't want to have to resign him after all the work and time we put in to develop him.
I like the spring game but I kind of get Nebraska's take on this.

The other teams who recruited that kid are probably still in touch and have heard about his progress. Families, friends, spies all talk and in a big program, it's going to be tough to keep secrets. It may mean a little more risk to the tampering team with a lack of film, but they will still take a shot.

It's starting this year. Next year it looks like it'll be the norm.

Thinking I'll be going to the O&B game on April 12th. Don't know when/if there will be a next one.

That's smart and it helps UT too, since they can now schedule two patsies. No SEC team that wins enough to be considered for the playoffs needs to enhance their SOS...they get plenty of that in the league. The days of playing a tough OOC schedule to impress the voters is over for the SEC and the BIG now that the playoffs have expanded to a ridiculous extent. Its not good for the fans, but all they want from us is our $$ anyway.

That’s my angle. I want to watch better games, all season, there’s only 12 of them. I loathe the cream filled cupcake games.

Leave him on the bench in the o&b , no drama needed.

It used to be that one felt that they had something in common with the players, that being their shared love of the sport and loyalty to the University. One might’ve gone to classes with them, or perhaps not, but one got to know them for 3, 4, or 5 years.

Now, for the most part, many are mercenaries, and one never knows who will be on the team from year to year. I hesitate to go all-in emotionally with any player/employee, because looking forward to the next season, watching a player develop, “he’s going to be great in another year or so”, might mean that he’s going to be great somewhere else… or maybe, their emotional immaturity causes them to take a perceived slight as the impetus to move on.

You cheer on a favorite player, only to see him giving you the finger from the sideline of a rival the very next year.

It’s worse than the NFL… At least there, you can expect to see a favorite player on your team for the length of their contract. NCAA? Not so much.

Even following recruiting isn’t as much fun anymore. You spend more time following someone, and rather than feel you’ve “won” when they sign, you feel like you’re renting them.

I think your post is completely unfair to the players. The coaches and Universities have always been greedy mercenaries, but that seemed to be OK for some reason.

The Players have been asking for equity for decades. The Universities, coaches and fans told them to pound sand. We'll give you what we want and you'll like it. Well, the worm has turned. The players are now playing by the same rules as everyone else.

The current situation is everyone's fault except for the players.

I don't think the coaches got a free pass in the past either as far as fan approval. Had SOS went to Georgia instead of usce, he may be persona non grata for many. Players can go to other teams but going to rivals is weak.

I'm going by the ammount of money the coaches make. Coaches like Saben and Kelly complain about the players money obsession while they have $100,000,000 contracts. GTFO with that nonsense.
