US vehicles are overpriced, everyone knows that. Competition will give you better cars and lower prices, which will give the consumer a better product, which will give you more market share globally. If you dont like the geopolitical aspirations of the CCP, then that requires pain on a global scale because they have most of the population of labor and can steal IP. They can out produce us in just about every industry, so I would be careful here. This isnt the US of 20 years ago, our stick is much shorter...
Until they aren't. Or aren't available. And then you cry. . . and stamp your feet. . . and demand the government cave into their demands because you WANT MY CHEAP CARS BACK!!!! See how this works? CCP does, and has for a long time. Too bad we elected a retard with his head up his ass and a South African CCP agent telling him what to do.
See below. You're missing the big picture. This isn't Japan or Korea, who play by the rules. This is the CCP, who subsidizes this industry in an attempt to gain leverage in foreign countries. If it wasn't for government subsidies, they wouldn't be that cheap. Oh, you believed the "tales" about Chinese efficiency. Nice fairy tale. It's all about the subsidies.
Basically what you are saying is capitalism is powerless against monopolies which create problematic contradictions, perhaps consider becoming a Marxist I guess.
It is pretty funny seeing capitalists say "what if they achieve a monopoly and then pull out the rug!"
And the US subsidizes their auto industry as well. No one is innocent here, it's business. No one talks about Chinese efficiency, they bypass rules and have enormous amounts of labor to keep costs low. Americans are fat and lazy, no one cuts their own grass anymore, they just pay someone to do it and go into debt.
These are our own stereotypes of course. Of course American workers are basically some of the most efficient in the world (vacations, what are those?), employers routinely bypass regulations, while the administration and enforcement of regulations has been chipped away at for decades (now a chainsaw is being used), and we too have a massive supply of cheap labor (some of which we seem intent on deporting TBF)
You're attempt at pithy one liners is starting to remind me of Bluke. You may want to work on that, and sticking to the point. Again, people like you assume all the bad guys died in WWII or by 1991. They didn't. And they don't operate on the same set of standards you, I and most others do. They operate by the standards of Genghis Khan or Ivan the Terrible. So, we can play your game and get walked over, or we can pull our heads out of our asses and see the world for what it is. I'll say the same thing to you I do to MAGA traitors. If you don't like it, LEAVE!
Not to that level. Government banks and "private banks" all owned and controlled by the CCP? Stop being naive. A electric-car credit isn't the same as turning the entirety of the financial industry towards it.
I dont assume the bad guys died, we are the bad guys lol. That doesnt mean the other people are the good guys by default. But the idea that I have to pay more for cars so the bad guys dominate the world which does nothing for me seems stupid to me. I dont love my country enough to eat shit for it, sorry. If you think eating shit and living like a serf is an act of patriotism or something, enjoy a nice bowl of shit, but I wont be partaking.
That's such a stupid and tired take. Whatever dude, go live over there then. I'm sure it's a panacea of wonderfulness. I didn't say we couldn't do better, but it's complete nonsense to suggest that any other system on offer is better or that they (CCP?) are even capable of acknowledging their own failings and trying to address them. Wouldn't want to "lose face". God forbid! And, THAT Sir, is what sets us apart. People like you, free to post your opinions freely and even build a coalition to address and correct those issues. Think they have that in Russia? China? Saudi Arabia? It's both our weakness (in their eyes especially) and our strength (something people like that will never understand).
I guess you read past the part that us being evil doesnt make other people good. I would just insist that we dont be evil, and certainly not that I have to eat shit in a way that I receive no benefit for. Yes we have a media where we can piss on each other freely, its probably a better mechanism of control than theirs, TBH. If there was just one state media, we would all know who was lying lol.
To be honest, I used to agree with you. But 2022 forced a reevaluation on my part and that led to clarity and acceptance of reality. We may have our problems, but we're the best thing going and I'm all for preserving that for ourselves and any of our partners who share those values.
We definitely are not the best thing going, but I do understand the rationality of not wanting to screw myself the other way either. I think its stupid to pay more for cars because we are racist against Chinese and think in terms of economic domination and empire. But I also dont want to see my retirement that I had little choice but to tie to the stock market evaporate either.
