US vehicles are overpriced, everyone knows that. Competition will give you better cars and lower prices, which will give the consumer a better product, which will give you more market share globally. If you dont like the geopolitical aspirations of the CCP, then that requires pain on a global scale because they have most of the population of labor and can steal IP. They can out produce us in just about every industry, so I would be careful here. This isnt the US of 20 years ago, our stick is much shorter...

And the US subsidizes their auto industry as well. No one is innocent here, it's business.

No one talks about Chinese efficiency, they bypass rules and have enormous amounts of labor to keep costs low. Americans are fat and lazy, no one cuts their own grass anymore, they just pay someone to do it and go into debt.

 

These are our own stereotypes of course. Of course American workers are basically some of the most efficient in the world (vacations, what are those?), employers routinely bypass regulations, while the administration and enforcement of regulations has been chipped away at for decades (now a chainsaw is being used), and we too have a massive supply of cheap labor (some of which we seem intent on deporting TBF)

I dont assume the bad guys died, we are the bad guys lol. That doesnt mean the other people are the good guys by default. I didn't say we couldn't do better, but it's complete nonsense to suggest that any other system on offer is better or that they (CCP?) are even capable of acknowledging their own failings and trying to address them. Wouldn't want to "lose face". God forbid!

I guess you read past the part that us being evil doesnt make other people good. I would just insist that we dont be evil, and certainly not that I have to eat shit in a way that I receive no benefit for. Yes we have a media where we can piss on each other freely, its probably a better mechanism of control than theirs, TBH. If there was just one state media, we would all know who was lying lol.

 

To be honest, I used to agree with you. But 2022 forced a reevaluation on my part and that led to clarity and acceptance of reality. We may have our problems, but we're the best thing going and I'm all for preserving that for ourselves and any of our partners who share those values.

We definitely are not the best thing going, but I do understand the rationality of not wanting to screw myself the other way either. I think its stupid to pay more for cars because we are racist against Chinese and think in terms of economic domination and empire. But I also dont want to see my retirement that I had little choice but to tie to the stock market evaporate either.
