This reminds me of the famous Gator Flop in 1971. (I would have called it the Florida Flop for the illiteration.) That's when the entire Gator defense flopped down and allowed Miami to score a TD. The purpose being to get the ball back (the Gators were ahead in a blowout) so John Reaves could set a passing record before time expired. UM Coach Fran Curci refused to shake Doug Dickey's hand after the game. Curci called it "the worst thing I've ever seen in football."

Guessing he didn't live to see FSU's season last year.

TV networks generate more revenue when there are time-outs for injuries by showing more commercials. Look for them to lobby against this potential new rule. [/s]

The players jumping in the fountain after the game was sweet icing on the cake. We out-Caned the Canes in every sense of the word that day.

I thought it was the Dolphin tank that the Dolphins once had at the old Orange Bowl.

Doug Dickey sucked in too many ways to count. Lost in the memory is that Dickey’s Gators and our record-winning QB (and Carlos Alvarez) went 4-7 that season. All the great work that went into that record was achieved in the years prior under Ray Graves. Dickey took Graves’ 9-1-1 team and promptly went 4-7 with them and capped it all off with arguably the most bush league stunt ever pulled in college football

They need to put "fake an injury to stop clock" into the EA College Football game.

I remember when Wuerffel faked an injury (not to stop the clock, he promptly hobbled off the field), so the opponent would think the substitute coming in would be no threat. Eric Kresser came in and immediately completed a long pass. Unsportsmanlike conduct!

I think we've been over that territory enough times already.

It's all right if we do it and that the trick play led to winning that SEC Title over Alabama. :)

Now if the injured player limps off the field with or without help, the referee should just pause play while it happens. However, that supposed 'injured' player would also have to sit out the entire possession of the opposing offensive team.

If that player's injury is so severe as to require medical attention from staff thereby delaying the game than he should sit out the entire game or more games for 'health' reasons.

I also think a time penalty should be given if necessary if more players seem to get injured during the current drive or another subsequent drive:
i.e charge a time out and/or increase or decrease the amount of time remaining in the game/half which is up to the coach on the offensive team.

That should teach coaches a lesson who implement those delay of game tactics unethically.
