Said it before to Trump corruption isn't a crime. It doesn't even matter if the perpetrators are Democratic politicians. At the end of his first administration he commuted Rod Blagojevich's sentence releasing him from prison. Today he issued a total pardon for Blago, in effect absolving him of the crime of trying to sell Barack Obama's Senate seat.

Trump also had the DOJ drop the corruption related charges against Eric Adams, the indicted Mayor of NYC and also a Democrat.
DOJ moves to dismiss federal charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams
Theoretically the charges can be reinstated against Adams since the charges were dismissed without prejudice although realistically Adams probably doesn't really have to worry about it happening.

It is interesting that to Trump, corrupt politicians aren't the "bad people." Instead, it is the people who investigate and prosecute corrupt politicians.

Not surprising. What's somewhat surprising is that he didn't do so in his first term or if he did it wasn't really publicized. I do recall that when he was campaigning the first time around he expressed opposition to the laws against foreign bribery based on the rationale that they unfairly constrained American businesses doing business overseas.
Apparently he didn't enforce the law during his first term either.

It's fun to note that none of the Trump supporters come onto threads like this to defend Trump, or even discuss the issue.

They just pretend it didn't happen, that they don't support a criminal.

The man is literally setting the criminals free.

Bondi must be so proud to be in charge of the justice department runs by and for the criminals

    MAGA - you proud?

Justice officials tell prosecutors to drop charges against N.Y. Mayor Eric Adams

NEW YORK — The Justice Department on Monday told federal prosecutors in New York to drop corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams, saying his trial could interfere with his reelection bid and ability to focus on fighting crime and illegal immigration.

The memo from acting deputy attorney general Emil Bove said the decision was not based on the evidence or theory of the case against Adams, who was indicted in September and accused of being under illegal foreign influence and accepting bribes through campaign donations and luxury travel perks.

Instead, Bove made the unusual argument that the case should be dropped for reasons including that it was brought about nine months before the mayoral primary, according to a copy of the memo obtained by The Washington Post.

He suggested, without citing evidence, that charges were brought under prior leadership in the U.S. attorney’s office for political reasons. And he said Adams — who has made a point of aligning himself with President Donald Trump in recent months — should be free “to devote full attention and resources” to addressing illegal immigration and violent crime in New York City.

Eric Adams came under investigation during the Biden administration when he publicly came out and opposed Biden's immigration policy. Then the charges were dropped because Biden (or Biden's handlers) was/were scared of black voter whiplash. Then he was prosecuted anyway. Given the very suspicious and possibly politically motivated prosecution of Eric Adams (surprise!), Trump dropping the charges here is not too surprising to me.

The Democrats (and their teammates in the legacy media) have lost public trust when it comes to prosecuting high profile political opponents. Each shady political prosecution erodes the public trust.

airplane upgrades. seriously, keep sliding down that slippery slope trying to defend the indefensible

like saying J6 were charged for trespassing. he's been selling out for years, to foreign nationals included. something him and djt share in common. not too late to open your eyes

Southern District of New York | New York City Mayor Eric Adams Charged With Bribery And Campaign Finance Offenses | United States Department of Justice

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: “As alleged, Mayor Adams abused his position as this City’s highest elected official, and before that as Brooklyn Borough President, to take bribes and solicit illegal campaign contributions. By allegedly taking improper and illegal benefits from foreign nationals—including to allow a Manhattan skyscraper to open without a fire inspection—Adams put the interests of his benefactors, including a foreign official, above those of his constituents. This Office and our partners at the FBI and DOI will continue to pursue corruption anywhere in this City, especially when that corruption takes the form of illegal foreign influence on our democratic system.”

For nearly a decade, ADAMS has used his prominent positions in New York City government to obtain illegal campaign contributions and luxury travel. ADAMS solicited and accepted these benefits from foreign nationals, businessmen, and others. ADAMS then pressured the New York City Fire Department to facilitate the opening of a foreign government’s Manhattan skyscraper that had not passed a fire inspection. To conceal this criminal conduct, ADAMS took steps to hide his receipt of improper benefits from the public and law enforcement.

In 2014, ADAMS was elected Brooklyn Borough President. Thereafter, ADAMS sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him. By 2018, ADAMS—who had by then made known his plans to run for Mayor of New York City—not only accepted, but sought illegal campaign contributions to his 2021 mayoral campaign from foreign nationals, as well as other things of value. As ADAMS’s prominence and power grew, his foreign-national benefactors sought to cash-in on their corrupt relationships with him, particularly when it became clear that ADAMS would become New York City’s mayor in 2021. ADAMS agreed, providing favorable treatment in exchange for the illicit benefits he received. After his inauguration as Mayor of New York City, ADAMS soon began preparing for his next election, including by planning to solicit more illegal contributions and granting requests from those who supported his 2021 mayoral campaign with such donations.

ADAMS sought and accepted illegal campaign contributions in the form of “nominee” or “straw” contributions, meaning that the true contributors conveyed their money through nominal donors, who falsely certified they were contributing their own money. By smuggling their contributions to ADAMS through U.S.-based straw donors, ADAMS’s overseas contributors defeated federal laws that serve to prevent foreign influence on U.S. elections. Wealthy individuals evaded laws designed to limit their power over elected officials by restricting the amount any one person can donate to a candidate. And businesses circumvented New York City’s ban on corporate contributions by funneling their donations through multiple employees, frustrating a law which seeks to reduce corporate power in politics. ADAMS increased his fundraising by accepting these concealed, illegal donations—at the cost of giving his secret patrons the undue influence over him that the law tries to prevent.

Based on everything I have read the charges very likely might be legit. However, the bigger story here is the Biden administration only lifted a finger to prosecute Eric Adams after Eric Adams publicly criticized what Biden's immigration policy was doing to NYC. So, the Biden regime did not care about Adam's criminality as long as they understood he was on their team. When he did not kiss the ring of king Biden and his handlers that is when he found himself in legal trouble.

This is an odd assumption (and projection considering this is 100% something Trump would do).

How do you know it wasn’t the opposite? That Adams lashed out at the Biden admin only after he found out the feds were proceeding w/ a case? Or that Adam’s words re: immigration merely coincidental to the charges? You are making the assumption based on what you want tobelieve, even while acknowledging he probably committed a crime!!???

I don’t think we can assume anything, although I’d point out this is the value of having career civil servants instead of political lackeys. Under Biden you’d be assuming a political lackey is able to convince an assortment of career civil service prosecutors to go after a case unjustly. Trumps “regime” would have political lackey directing even more political lackeys beneath them.

Adam's crime was sounding the alarm on the overwhelming number of illegals coming to NYC.
