What a Difference a POTUS Makes: Army Recruiting for December and January Both Shatter Records Going Back Years

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed Tuesday that preliminary recruitment figures for the military show how interest in serving is quickly rising under President Donald Trump.

Hegseth revealed that the Army had its best recruitment totals in 12 years in December 2024, the first full month after Trump was re-elected.

That was followed by the best recruiting numbers in 15 years as of January 2025, the month in which Trump officially took office.

The conclusion Hegseth drew is that “America’s youth want to serve” under the bold and strong “America First” leadership offered by Trump.

This country loves strong leaders who put America first, Thank you President Trump

    Very interesting phenomenon.

It's probably all of the Jan6 rioters that were just released from jail. (I kid). :D

I dont think that means what you think it means. Just like low gas correlates with a tough economy so does army recruiting. Cadets are betting on a tough job market under Trump. They are correct,

The Effect of the Civilian Economy on Recruiting and Retention

The recent economic downturn has improved recruiting and retention and has allowed the services to reduce use of enlistment and reenlistment bonuses.

In one thread MAGA supporters are celebrating the slashing of government spending and employees. In another thread they are celebrating an increase in government spending and employees.

The increase could be strictly because of Trump's election. Or it could be that recruiting has been increasing for more than a year, in large part to a prep program it began to qualify potential soldiers who in the past were failing the physical and academic standards.

LOL. Maga dude starts a thread on emotion and made-up narrative. It elicits multiple posts of studies and data refuting his feelings. Maga dude never returns to defend his emotions and will start another thread on emotions. Rinse, repeat.

Recruiting for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024:
The military service concluded fiscal year 2024 in a much improved position compared to this time last year despite a continuously challenging and disinterested recruiting market. At the end of September, the services enlisted just shy of 225,000 new recruits in fiscal year 2024. That's over 25,000 more than fiscal year 2023. Furthermore, the services had a 35 percent increase in contracts written compared to this time last year. USMEPCOM saw a year over year increase of medical exam by 48 percent, and the active components started fiscal year 2025 with a 10 percent larger starting pool or a delayed entry program pool compared to this time last year.

Trump and Hegseth taking credit for the increase in recruiting is another example of Trump taking credit for a trend the began in the previous administration. During his first administration and when he was running the second time he took credit for the continuation of economic growth and low inflation that occurred under Obama.

The problem is that rightwing media everywhere is probably running with this story. Some will probably know it’s dishonest. But they also know their readers and viewers come to them for stuff like this that confirms their world view.
Pity the poor fools who don’t have Too Hot to educate them.

The liberal spin machine is at full rev. They have a ridiculous excuse for everything good and needed that has taken place over the last few weeks. Very enjoyable to watch and will only get better.

I like how all these things always ignore that Trump was president before, but all of a sudden he has magical juice just by winning an election

Trump did not have nearly the support in his first term that he has now. Actually, he had no support. He has the right people working for him now and the power of congress behind him.

Since when did pointing out the obvious become an excuse? I wasn't referring to a particular issue either. If you want to read excuses, check out many of the posts from lefties in regard to positive actions taken by Trump or corruption discovered by his administration.
