I'm all about the government savings but without context this is pretty meaningless.

Money saved is one thing.. and I’m all for our government getting a handle on its finances.. but money saved at what costs? That’s the true question. I can save a ton of money by not paying the electric bill, feeding the cows, and buying gas.. but the costs for saving that money will far outstrip what I saved.

Any idea what the cost of the above listed cuts will be?

Does it really matter? You can cry about it or just start 12 new threads and bump it off the first page.

that’s the thing, none of us has a clue whether these cuts are good or bad or what.
And, given Musk’s difficulty with the truth, if they’re even real.

I think they will. That has got to be bonanza of waste. However, spending in 2025 > 2024.

It might not be waste. It might be funds allocated by Congress. Cancelling a contract might mean that the impacted Agency or Dept put it back through a bid process. Elon with hype a new procurement government process that is more “efficient” and the bids come back with a modest savings.

100% this will be weaponized. Congress must be worried about the pork the promised their constituents.

You don't seriously believe the military - industrial complex in this country will sit idly by for massive Elon cuts, do you?

All these cuts being wildly celebrated mean nothing without context.

Funds cut = lives and businesses upended with no warning = major economic ramifications.

great post. Without some kind of objective analysis we will never know what was cut and the economic impacts of those cuts. And who is actually making these decisions? Musk? Or is musk running it by Trump? If so is someone on the presidents office reviewing exactly what is being cut? What happens to the funds that were earmarked by congress? So many questions not enough answers but I guess if you’re on team burn it down, it doesn’t even matter. Or at least for most I assume it won’t matter until it effects them personalty in some way.
