I doubt anyone anticipated our country getting steamrolled so easily by a billionaire. But he needed a POTUS like Trump to do it.

    (Op Ed)

"So I guess my question is: Why are all you conspiracy theorists so quiet right now? I mean, you’ve FINALLY got an actual elitist billionaire taking control of the government – the thing you’ve always predicted and railed against – and all I’m hearing are non-conspiratorial crickets.

Since it appears that unelected, South-African-born billionaire Elon Musk is effectively running the country,.......Do you remember how you spent forever babbling on and on about shadowy billionaires trying to implement a totalitarian government and bring about “a new world order” and such?

the Treasury system Musk and … whoever … have access to is highly restricted: “Access to the system has historically been closely held because it includes sensitive personal information about the millions of Americans who receive Social Security checks, tax refunds and other payments from the federal government.”

if President Joe Biden had brought Soros into the government as an “efficiency expert” and let him have access to federal government data, Republicans would have impeached Biden instantly. They would have set the White House on fire using the flames erupting from the heads of Fox News hosts."

Billionaire Musk bought control of US government and conspiracy theorists sure are quiet | Opinion

He could shoot someone and they wouldn't care. He literally tried to overturn an election and just watched while hundreds of cops were beaten and they don't care. They actually even tell lies about what happened, on his behalf.

Because they're in a cult and he's the cult leader.

It actually would have been interesting to analyze how they accepted one deal-breaker after another, starting in 2015. Maybe to have a list. Publicly insulting McCain. The adultery and rape. His long personal history of paying no taxes. And of fraud. Nick-naming political opponents. Talking of immigration only in racist tropes and lies.

^ And that really only covers through 2015!

What were the reasons? Bill Clinton! Locker room talk. McCain was a globalist. Just pretend and self-delude as needed.

But here we are. And those people continue to support, lie for, and enable a literal criminal. That's America today.

vast majority of that has nothing to do with USAID & isn’t getting cut off. Fake News much? I mean really, you think we’re cutting off Israel?

Cute. On one hand the MAGA right is really concerned about the amount of US foreign aid while on the other hand they're also concerned about the growing Chinese influence around the world. Hint: It's been through foreign aid that the People's Republic of China has been able to expand it's influence, not through threats from the People's Liberation Army. Cutting back US foreign aid is essentially conceding to influence by China and to a lesser extent by Russia.
China’s Foreign Investments Significantly Outpace the United States. What does that mean?

That is lowly 3d chess thinking. The conservative media influencers skipped ahead to 4d chess, maybe even 5d. You couldn’t possibly comprehend.

China is handing out aid with strings attached around the world. If we do not continue the same influence buying strategy we will lose many allies and access to their natural resources.

Yeah, it's a lot of money, but foreign policy is complicated - well beyond my pay grade. For every dollar spent on foreign aid, how much do we save in defense spending? Not just today, but long term? Having allies and influence around the world is important. Isolationists have learned this the hard way throughout history.

Would be interesting if USAID is a CIA cover organization.

    (adding a conspiracy theory)

Their new anti-Semitism commission will make it officially anti-Semitic to even suggest such a thing! We wont be cutting off Jordan or Egypt either, that money is basically "pro-Israel" funding anyway. And now the Saudis will be looking for that kind of scratch if they are going to recognize Israel and have formal diplomacy.

USAID has been cover for CIA operations, but it does pretty normal stuff like give people medicine and food that has no intelligence value. The CIA is just as likely to use an NGO or other entity to do what it does if USAID goes away. Its not going to be a blow to them, operationally.

BIG PICTURE. Essentially we're in a government restructuring similar to venture capitalists taking over a company.

Lots of cash will be "extracted" as departments, personnel and regulations are slashed.

But in turn, this will result in significant unemployment, family disruptions, services limited or gone, with states left to deal with constituents' needs.

There has been no vision communicated to the American people specifically how these Federal changes will be addressed at States' level. Is there a plan to return some of the cash haul back to the States? Will it be done on a per capita basis by population? Or will it be politically motivated?

And other implications: For example, with limited / smaller FBI will there be sufficient resources to fight domestic terrorism, address interstate crime or prosecute major crimes?

The historical downsides of venture capital takeovers are twofold: a loss of control by shareholders and uncontrolled spending.
Citizens are the shareholders here. Can you be sure you will be getting back your fair share of the Federal "savings"? Or guarantee the national deficit / debt will be significantly paid down? Do you trust that new ventures such as Wealth Fund and blockchain realignment will be transparent to all of us?

As citizens, we might want to discuss these issues without all the partisan bickering. That choice (of course) is yours.
