This is the one I'm thinking of. Can you imagine the horror? Maybe something like 9/11 would be worse. IDK.

SMH. Just eat a gun man.

We have not clue for sure. And I am certainly not suggesting that. Just comes off as one of the two most likely early scenarios to me. And if I were betting it would be the far less likely. But definitely a possibility.

Not sure. But there have definitely been a few. I love aviation and always found the Air Crash Investigation show interesting. They had a couple of shows where it was pilot suicide. I personally think MH 370 is likely that as well though that one is still unknown.

I had a nephew that was a life flight pilot in that area. He resigned because he wouldn’t fly when it wasn’t safe. He now flys corporate jets.

Ridiculous. Just eat a bottle of sleeping pills or something. Those people didn't do anything but get on a plane, probably to go on vacation or something.

I am doubting the suicide angle although it is a possibility. Mechanical issure/structural failure seem more likely to me.

The MH 370 story gives me the heebs. Someone would have to be pretty sick to kill that many people in a murder-suicide because his wife and kids were leaving him. The evidence seems to point to it.

You are spot on. It is terrible to get that depressed. But you nail it on explaining the situation. Just ridiculous to kill innocent people like that.

I am pretty sure pilots have to go through psych evals. It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of our resident pilots on the issue. Thankfully it is not a common one!

I think it is crazy the guy who tried to take down the Alaska Air is out free right now! Granted he may get more jail time.

Former Alaska Airlines pilot who tried to shut down engines in-flight shares his story

Had coffee with an aviation buff. He worked for Eastern Airlines in Miami for many years. Not a pilot but he has been in a few cockpits and on occasion been allowed to fly the plane. He studies plane crashes. Told me he can almost guarantee the Philly plane did not have its flaps down on takeoff. So the cause of the crash was pilot error (he says).
