Did USAID help fund the creation of Covid-19?

I'd prefer to hear from someone that hasn't received billions in government funding and has no plans to audit spending made to their companies

    ^This!

The Trump/Musk/alt-right trolls are out in force.

Anyone who takes part in USAID projects is apparently.... Deep State now, lol.

It's like PizzaGate for global aid work. Who would have thought America could be so absolutely stupid.

I'm not sure about that this time. If the economy tanks and nothing gets done he campaigned on, his approval rating will tank. Wouldn't surprise me to see some Republicans pull away near the midterms of that happens, a few may decide to impeach that are at risk. I think they wait until Jan 27, as that's when Vance can potentially have a chance at 2 years plus 2 terms.

Remember the freedom caucus doesn't like spending and already said f off to his retreat in S fla.

WADR, you're still not viewing this properly, sir.

With lines of credit shut, it's a massive cash-flow crisis. It's not like just closing a sandwich shop with the expectation that it will re-open in 3 months.

Specifically; many of these large companies are responsible for the product and only paid when it's delivered. They may not have the funds to float the entire amount of product in the pipeline, considering the huge logistical outlays. And they frequently get paid for deliveries. Or, in the past they got paid for deliveries - now they have to keep paying out, not get paid, and wait. They can't sustain that.

Now add in that logistics providers are instantly unwilling to take on their tasks when they have huge doubts about when they will get paid. Within 90 days....they can hope, but obviously not even be sure. Then throw in the fact that there can be a tremendous amount of perishable goods in transit that may well now not ever be delivered....further negatively impacting both current credit and confidence in future credit of counterparties.

Obviously, the first place these companies will cut is staff non-essential to actual deliverables. For 90 days? Which could be a huge proportion of staff. Can those people even be assumed to come back? Can anyone be assumed to regain confidence and trust in the system? Can anyone trust the very United States government?

This could probably have been avoided by doing something in a reasonable manner. Why that didn't happen is anyone's guess. Trump's vindictiveness? His desire to actually destroy the very infrastructure of US foreign aid?

And we haven't even made mention of the fact that the most competent people on the US govt side, USAID, may not be returning to their jobs.

Then, of course, there's the vile, piece of human garbage Elon Musk , who is literally calling USAID a criminal organization.

Anyone who knowingly would have supported all of this -so many lives certain to be lost and negatively impacted, the destruction of this very industry- is so void of humanity and positive attributes that I can't even accurately describe my feelings of them without being instantly banned.

Well done, Trump and Trumpers. #WINNING. Right?

Never heard of Liz before but she did cite an Inspector General report and Elon Musk commented on her post. Since I was unfamiliar with Liz's work I prefaced my post with "Is this true?" Hard to determine so I deleted the post. No need to rely on a controversial reporter. Mike Benz is gold

That’s one of the lamest attempts at a gotcha that I’ve seen. A billion dollars of contributions from thousands of individuals and $27M of it is tax payer funds so somehow this guy is deep state? Try working those brain cells before posting this kind of stuff.

Apparently, in today's America if you donate enough money to the presidential campaign of a criminal, you can break numerous laws and cause thousands of people to die.

Then gloat on your $hitty social media site.

Grotesque that Americans support this. Shameful people.

The real question is what kind of information are you consuming to have someone like that come across your Twitter feed?

Is this the new process? Send in Trump's unelected buddy to just shut government entities down without let or hindrance? No trial, no legislative involvement, just Musk throwing his weight around and crowing like a little dunghill cock about it on X?

USAID is only one of the foreign aid programs. My guess is the Elon will go after the others as well. One thing to keep in mind. The Peoples Republic of China is our greatest geopolitical adversary. China has been been significantly extending its influence especially in Third World countries over the last 20 years and the PRC has done so not through invasions by the Peoples Liberation Army but through various forms of foreign aid. Maybe it's just me although he claims that he is doing so in the name of fiscal responsibility maybe co-President Elon Musk is cutting US foreign aid at the bidding of his masters in Beijing. Keep in mind that China is Tesla's largest market. Elon sells more cars in China than in the US.

If there is a question of wrongdoing by USAIDS, the FBI or Justice Dept. should investigate. Oh, right, Trump doesn't trust them, and he's impatient about due process. Musk and his mercenaries are the perfect solution to the problem that is democracy.
