Thought it was classy of Rick. I’m okay if some fans boo him. I wouldn’t but not sure I’d cheer very loudly yet. He’ll get his flowers eventually and deserves them.
Agreed. I’m pretty sure Gator fans would have booed Urban Meyer if Ohio St ever came to Florida, but the fans seemed to have warmed up to him over time.
Apparently they booed Pitino pretty badly on his return with Louisville, which is more understandable since they’re such heated rivals with UK. Seems like it affected him pretty substantially. Class move by Pitino.

Not sure I linked that correctly but that's him flipping off UK fans while walking off the court towards the tunnel. It was ugly but it healed. Some fans are saying they'll boo because Cal left for a rival. Arkansas is more of a rival than many teams but, honestly, I'm not sure they're in the top 5. I'd put UL, Duke, Florida, UT and Indiana all ahead of them. Also, he honestly kinda left because so many fans wanted him to. He actually did what was best for UK fans. Him leaving saved UK like 40 million dollars and got us a fresh start. So I don't get the "he left us so I'm gonna boo him" concept. I think a better reason is his stubbornness with playing the best lineups and the fact that his stubbornness was due to having made promises to players - something he swore he never did. It cost UK games and that is inexcusable.

UK fans boo every call that goes against the Cats. Booing is what they do best. I can't see them giving JC a standing O. Especially with a "traitor" asking them to do so.
I dislike Urban Meyer a lot but not for leaving. I was glad that he did. I know this is a minority opinion.
If I was there I’d be silent. He doesn’t deserve a standing ovation or being boo’d. I have the flu so just trying to make the game.
I got run off swamp gas back in the day when I was critical of Meyer while he was here winning. I knew a fair amount that went on …. And it made me dislike the guy. Stlll do. Glad he is gone.

Meyer is arrogant! Foley giving him a million dollars to get well showed he didn’t get it, but was an offering to keep him in the fold for Bull Gators. I knew this would end bad. He took the money and very quickly left for the Bucknuts, traitor. Us Gators looking like chumps at the end.
I don't think it was to keep him for the Bull Gators, but, as I recall, Meyer's contract had a $1M retention clause that he would get if he was here on a certain upcoming date. Meyer knew he was leaving and him staying a few weeks to get his $M would only hurt us in our coaching search so Foely agreed to pay him out to save time on the search.
This wasn’t the way the press, let on to Gator fans. With him quitting on Gator nation, and knowing that he had discussions with Ohio St already, who knowing that would have given him the extra million? In my reasoning, weak on Foley to give him an extra million, he wasn’t honest with Florida. I remember the press reporting he was going to take some time off for his health, NOT. Used us.
