You got that commercial crap right. Literally RUINS the TV watching experience, and when I am in attendance at games, I hate how all the "breaks" can ruin a teams momentum, while the Ozempic commercials explain, at least 10 times a game, how your life will be perfect once you consume their product.

 

You're not wrong, and I'm clearly in the minority, but watching teams of people that don't represent anything I have a vested interest in isn't for me. I just can't muster interest in watching some random dudes represent a town in Europe I can't find on a map in a soccer match, or a bunch of random dudes play in a stadium in Jacksonville because that's where they're contractually obligated to play.

Anyways, I maintain a passing interest in UF athletics mostly because the university was a big part of my life for like 30 years. The professional athletes don't represent the university anymore than a guy who works at that little gas station at the corner of 13th and University for a couple years does. If this stuff interests you I'm happy for you. At least some people are gaining something.

 

Well, since we are in the off-season and we have things to "discuss"...

Nothing wrong with your take. If you read my posts above, I am pretty ambivalent and if you ever got to my really sincere takes, if/when Napier is removed and we decide to "go for it" like our fans want, or if we remain with Napier and he "gets the new reality" and it is apparent we are "UGa/Bama/OSU wannabes", then I will be checking out. I don't see where I can be interested on one level and completely disdainful of everything else. And that means I won't be posting on fan forums anymore. That to me is akin to continuously picking at your scabs.

Question, if you are already there emotionally based on what you perceive, why continue to post? Righteous whining?

I'll rant! It is not just college football and the intrusion of ESPN and all the commercials, it is the NCAA going along with the rules changes to try to increase $$ while lengthening the "time of game" on TV but not the game itself. A college game not on TV, back years ago, did not have to take all that time off for commercials. Kickoff at 1:00 pm, done by 4:00pm.

Baseball slow walked the game for more TV time, more time for fans to spend money in stadium, which resulted in a 2:00 to 2:15 hour game reaching 3.5 to 4 hours which resulted in auto intentional walks, man on 2nd in extra innings, stupid clock on pitcher, etc. Created problem then solution is not the same game.

Pro basketball went from gazelles running with grace and athleticism to nothing but 3 point shots and dunks. Can anybody take an outlet pass and go up the court and pull up a bank shot for 2 like Celtic Sam Jones?

My last gripe and rant. Barry Sanders was a really great college RB. His bowl games rushing numbers do not count. They want today's players who play far more games, say 12 regular (+20%) records to be compared to players with 10 game seasons and no bowl records included. It is purposeful manipulation of numbers to make it appear that Player X is >> or == to Player Y from 30-40 years ago.
