Who knows why he didn't go to UNC, probably because he took the JSU DC job, that CO title could have been just to get him to be our safeties coach. As you acknowledged, he's not calling plays so why does it bother you. He's a position coach. To me it looks like each move is equal or higher than his last. Now let's see if he can help improve this team, then we can all have a better informed opinion about this hire.
You have no idea if they wanted him at unc. He got a legit DC job at a lower level, he likely wasn't viewed as ready for the bump at UW.....UF safety job is probably the best option from a $$ and career path standpoint out of the 4 job options (uw safety’s, unc safety’s, uf safety’s, jax st dc)
Coming to coach for a coach on the hot seat with a legitimate shot at having to find another new job in 2026 definitely wasn’t his best option and deep down you know this. Keep pumping though. You will just do it again for the next guy until it’s too late. Just like Champ, Mac, and Mullen none of them did wrong in your eyes until it hit you in the face and then you act like you knew all along. I’m not that guy. I’m telling you now. I don’t need sunshine and rainbows thrown at me. Save that for these other posters.
Okay but when it doesn’t work please stand in the paint and shout it from the rooftop you supported all of this. Don’t act like you knew all along it wasn’t going to work like you all did with Mullen. While those of us paying attention told you what was coming.
Some of these clowns would whine about anything Billy does. It’s really ridiculous — Penn State is a bunch of wizards because they paid OSU’s DC $3.1M and we should have done that even though we have a DC and by the look of the last 4 games, a good one. Meanwhile nobody is saying anything about how OSU allowed their DC to slip away for a lateral job. If they can’t come up with something to attack Billy with they’ll just make something up. SMDH
If he doesn't work out as a safety coach? OK, just make sure I know where to find you if that happens so I can admit a guy didn't make it as a position coach. Lol
Lol....what on earth are you babbling about? How have you somehow conflated the Sunseri hire into my view of previous head coaches. That's delusional spin at an epic level. And fyi, coaching hot seat in today's game changes by the week. Any of those gigs could go south in a heartbeat. But he's now coaching in the SEC, a conference he played in and likely would want to coach in.....he's got it on his resume. And he has a young and talented room with a ton of potential. But don't let logic interfere with you determination to find some reason to complain. And since you have proclaimed UF clearly isn't his best option....why is he here?
Billy is simply the Florida Gator’s coach. Until he isn’t, it doesn’t really do any good to do anything other than (at least try to) support him. When he’s gone, shit on him all you want and move on to supporting the next guy. Nobody on here hired him. Nobody on here will be firing him. Nobody on here has any control over anyone he chooses to hire or fire while he’s here. The sooner you realize how insignificant you are, the better off you will be. No one of consequence notices you now. No one at all will notice if you’re no longer here. If you get no enjoyment out of supporting the team and it’s coaches, then maybe try to find something else that you do enjoy. My guess is you simply enjoy complaining.
At least we’re all clear that he’s not to be taken seriously. Don’t see a troll openly out themselves very often.
Why do you think Bill Bellichik's buyout goes from 10 million down to 1 million after june 1st? What coach negotiates their buyout to drop 90% 5 months before they ever coach their 1st game? One who wants to be able to leave at the drop of a dime (or a million dollars) when an appealing NFL gig opens up later on. I'm sure that's being spoken about in the coaching circles. Why follow a coach to a new school just to see him bolt for the league 6 months later.
There is, and has been concerned about this contract buyout and the chances he bolts for the league still.
Well the start of the following season in 2026 would be within the 1 million buyout range. A one and done season at UNC wouldn't be appealing to any coaches thinking of following him there for the same reasons you mentioned..... having to find a new job in 2026. Anyone here really believe BB will be at UNC for the next 5 years? He'll even the next 2 years?
