He simply converted their sentences from death sentences to life without parole as part of a general policy against the death penalty for non-terrorism cases. Kind of different than letting people out of prison altogether, right?

I don't know Biden's reasons for a lot of those pardons and commutations. At least some seem to me to be a really bad decision. Maybe a lot, I don't know. I obviously haven't studied the entire list. But that doesn't excuse Trump's pardon of the J6 people, who were trying to overturn an election so that he could stay in office. That's just wrong.

One question. Why didn't Trump or one of his subordinates examine the cases individually and limit the pardons/commutations to persons charged with crimes that didn't involve violence? Instead he issued a blanket pardon that included defendants who viciously attacked law enforcement officers as well as the leaders of the failed insurrection. The answer is fairly simple and it wasn't the result of an oversight on the part of Trump, it was intentional. Trump considered all of them his "brownshirts" and rather than distinguishing individuals who committed violent acts from nonviolent defendants Trump intentionally awarded them for their willingness to use violence on his behalf.

That precedent was set by some of the greatest Americans ever -- Following the American Civil War, President Andrew Johnson issued a blanket pardon to all Confederate soldiers and participants in the rebellion on December 25, 1868, effectively granting full amnesty to all former Confederates, including restoring their civil rights and privileges under the Constitution; this is often referred to as the "general amnesty" or "Proclamation 179" issued by Johnson. J6 is over. Biden pardoned the whole committee who went way overboard in charging and over-sentencing far too many people. Trump pardon was oversweeping but so was Biden's. Time to put it behind us and move on. They did it on a much bigger issue 160-some years ago. We should follow our forefathers' wisdom.
Please provide a link as to any persons that were charged and/or sentenced by the J6 committee. On the Civil War amnesty, did anyone think they'd incarcerate the adult male population of nine states? LOL Andrew Johnson was NOT one of the greatest Americans ever?
I'm not so sure. I think there's a pretty decent chance that he replies that the actions in that photo didn't truly happen. IMO the slight-odds favorite is that we get a "FAKE NEWS!!!" Well, after the perennial odds leader that he just ignores reality and runs away.
