How about we put the pressure on and stepped up to win in a nail biter and awesome. Sports are supposed to be fun. We were getting beaten down. Great games adjust and plus there is a feel of confidence and the boys are playing fantastic. USC was undefeated until SEC play. We have beaten #1 team, and lost by a single point to a very good Missouri team and either way, we are better than I thought we would be. Coming through is all part of it. A come from behind win is a feather in the cap. It shows no give up and the ability to surgically slice the game for 4.8 seconds was the only time we were ahead the entire game. I always get nervous coming here because nobody is (very rarely just happy with where we are). Another W and you guys are worried if we get a too good seed? lol. it’s so funny to me. So to get it straight somehow we would be better off if we were just a little be less good so we don’t have to play a Cinderella but maybe a better team? Inert sense when appropriate. How about the run of steals in the end? Am I richer? GO GATORS! Final Four Bound!
Well, THAT was an "interesting" game. Not what I expected, but I will take the win. It just feels like we had to make an 8 foot putt for a par and a win. Nice to do it, but you should not play yourself to where you have to do it. Maybe it is a "win and move on" event. We shall see. Two different games and energies, but this one sort of felt like the Missouri game in that they had good defense to take away our offense and their bigs were a bit more than what we are used to, or built for. It feels like an Achilles Heel. Clayton's stats were pretty good, but to me it felt like a true PG would have made the game MUCH easier. Thank goodness for both Richard and Aberdeen giving us quality minutes and production.
The mind boggling part is that after they do pick up the dribble, there is no help. Somebody has to give the guy an outlet to pass to.
I love the Gators, I do, but why do I feel guilty of stealing or some other nefarious thing? LOL S Carolina must have woke up this morning and said? How did we lose?? I woke up and thought.....how did UF win that game??
Kudos to Richard. He progressed in non conference and gained confidence. Hopefully the same thing is happening now in conference. He's been the leader in the huddle, and also on the court when he plays like he did last night.
He has been fantastic this year. Of course the first comment from the negative nellies will be............."but his 3 point shot" Sure, he could pick that up a few % points but when he gets streaky hot, he can go off. What impresses me the most is basically everything else. Defense, board work, inside game, assists, sharing the basketball, you name it.
We are terrible at this; no movement at all and takes forever to go to the guy who is stalled and covered - this has to be corrected. I’m thinking our PG doesn’t want to be a PG on the court. This has a horrific impact on our offensive efficiency.
If we are in a zoom action, then that PG (who doesn’t want to be a PG, apparently) is off the ball coming off a screen for a dribble hand off. Or in our horns sets is cutting to the basket. Most of the time our bigs are picking up their dribble in a set where they are looking to pass, or because the pass isn’t there in the set. This isn’t middle school or 14u, where you have a PG handling the ball 90% of the time because he is the only guy who can handle the ball or initiate offense.
Yeah. I guess I'm more of an optimist than a realist. But 17-2 is rare here. I can't complain about anything. No team is going to play perfect. My bare minimum each year is to make the tourney. At this point in the season, I think we have a good shot at the sweet 16.
