TALLAHASSEE — For years, Floridians have used the ballot initiative process to pass popular measures that have been otherwise stymied by the state’s political leaders.

That process is how Florida got its $15 minimum wage, medical marijuana and felon voter rights restoration. It’s the reason why Florida’s governor and lawmakers have term limits.

But new proposals from Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office could make it nearly impossible for the state’s residents to amend their constitution.

The recent ballot initiatives came close to passing so we knew this was coming. Stop voters from voicing their opinion at all costs. We would still have $7 minimum wage imand medical marijuana if it wasn't for ballot initiatives

Why are Floridians okay with their voices being suppressed?
Recent legislative sessions have effectively neutralized the ability of counties and towns to make decisions for themselves regarding growth, environment, education, rent control, etc.
If DeSantis succeeds, it will mean that nearly all citizen power rests in your elected representatives to Tallahassee. And the governor already spent YOUR taxpayer money to defeat November's citizen initiatives.
When the people give up their personal power, they're gonna get played.
    Citizens' complacency is astounding.

The same reasons they, and a huge amount of other Americans, are OK casting votes for the only sitting POTUS (criminal) in US history to try and not peacefully transfer power; they're ignorant enough to be deceived on economic issues, and they're bigoted enough to be manipulated and fear-mongered on immigration issues and meaningless culture war pablum.

That and they know what's best for us. Subjects, not citizens.
