Noting that none of the persons pardoned by Biden were convicted of or orchestrated the storming of a federal government building to prevent the exercise of a a legitimate constitutional function nor did any of them violently attack police officers.
Checking in to see if Trump supporters still gaslight and lie about January 6th, in order to try and justify the most un-American act in US politics since the Civil War; Trump trying to overturn an election and not transfer power. Sadly, the tolerance of criminality is still strong with the Trump supporters. They not only make excuses for Trump's pardon of violent criminals, they try to deceive in order to justify it. What a sad state for America.
Why Democrats didn’t swarm the Capitol. It’s because Democrats really didn’t believe the things they were accusing him of. Think about it. If they really believed he was Hitler 2.0 there’d have been a storming.
She put herself in the position for sure. But with the videos we have seen and the information we have seen. I would bet her family gets a big settlement for wrongful death. Not saying they should or should not as we do not have all the information. Just my guess. One person intentionally killed. And there were many other videos of skirmishes that looked far more dangerous from the agitators. We will see.
How many of those protesters were charged with MURDER? Who were they? And when did the J6 trials show that trial? If there were murders, then surly there were murder trials, right? I must have missed those murder trials.
They were served by Justice. ‘Boogaloo Boi’ charged in fire of Minneapolis police precinct during George Floyd protest
Democrats didn't storm the Capitol because we still believe in Democracy and checks and balances. And if Trump ends them, there will be an appropriate time to protest. That wasn't Jan 6, 2025, because we also believe in the integrity of our elections. For better or worse, Trump won in 2024. Just like Biden did in 2020. As for Babbit, she was the only one shot because after she was shot, the rioters retreated and stopped their attempt to enter the chamber where the politicians were being protected by police. Had others attempted to enter, they too would have very likely been shot. But given the circumstances, the police used minimal necessary force to keep the area safe. And ask yourself, had Babbitt and the rioters not been stopped, and got access to the Congressmen and Senators, what might have happened? They would have thanked the politicians for their service, had some tea and crumpets, and ask them out for dinner when their work was done? Or, would have it been bloody and violent? If the LEOs thought it would be bloody and violent, they were well within their rights to prevent that with deadly force. Especially after Babbitt was ordered to cease entrance and did not comply.
If I were guessing…I do think the government settles and does not take this to court. So my guess would be yes. I think you’re an attorney? I would assume that is the norm if settled? I really don’t know. But just makes sense.
So you're saying that they should have a free pass to attack law enforcement officers so long as they didn't commit murder?
Although it hasn't received much publicity Trump and his January 6th friends are still defendants in a number of civil lawsuits and his position as the former and current POTUS will probably not save his ass and Trump personally has very deep pockets. As Jan. 6 Criminal Cases Against Trump Fizzle, Civil Cases Plod Ahead There have been many efforts, over nearly four years, to hold Donald J. Trump accountable for the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but almost all of them have been stymied in the end by failure or delay. There is, however, one endeavor that is still alive and moving forward, albeit somewhat gingerly: a suite of eight civil lawsuits, accusing Mr. Trump of inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol on Jan. 6. The lawsuits, all of which are being heard in Federal District Court in Washington, were largely brought by police officers and members of Congress who claim they were harmed when a mob of Mr. Trump’s supporters broke into the Capitol on Jan. 6, disrupting the certification of the 2020 election. The suits, which have also implicated several members of far-right groups like the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, have all been consolidated for the moment in front of Judge Amit P. Mehta, who has handled several criminal cases related to the riot. HAHA the best part is, if you asked Biden who he pardoned, he wouldn't know. Everything done in the last 4 years was all his handlers. No other president in history has ever preemptively pardoned someone. The party of democracy and "no one is above the law" strikes again.
of course. Gotta keep it going. Again, I work with ‘cops’ allllll the time and you know how many I have ever met that have brought a civil action against a civilian. None. Wonder why. Hint. Because they have to pay for it unlike the ones you mention above. It’s being funded by others to keep the con goin. Which is strange because it’s a losing issue for the left. someone could go out today and assault a police officer and depending on their history they could get a slap or a year in jail, yet here we are 4 years later with the left still trying to squeeze some political juice. Up until a few weeks ago the DOJ was still pursuing people for basically trespassing and not even going inside, while they were conflated and labeled violent insurrectionists. It’s an old play book the left used. 4 bangers shooting it out on school property at 2am. Goes down as a school shooting per anytown. Conflate. Gaslight. Conflate. Gaslight. Rinse repeat. Anyone who cracked a cop that day deserves to have his ass kicked and go to jail, but that is not exclusive to Washington DC. This ‘insurrection’ Was over quicker than back to back episodes of housewives with nominal damage to doors and windows, Few stolen laptops and office trinkets and yet people here still gaslight as if it was an occupation for weeks or months like say…. Chaz zone or summer of love Where the damage was multistate , lasted for weeks and months and the financial impact was multitudes of hundreds of millions. By all means. Keep it going. Keep making these rediculous arguments. It didn’t work the first time and most see it for what it is. Gross overreach married to selective outrage.
The preemptive pardon has been used by four Presidents. Lincoln pardoned Confederates before the end of the war. Ford preemptively pardoned Nixon, and Carter preemptively pardoned Vietnam War draft dodgers. George Bush also preemptively pardoned Casper Weinberger.
He freed a guy that had been in jail since 1975 and is now 80 years old. He also did not overturn that verdict, letting the conviction stand. Sounds more like mercy to an old man and giving something his tribe had wanted for many years. I don’t really see that as an affront to the rule of law considering the substantial time served, although several parties advised against it (including the families of the agents and the FBI director). That type of thing is literally what the pardon power was designed and traditionally used for (pardoning friends and family as we’ve seen in more recent times, not so much).
I assume he’s talking about this guy, https://www.reuters.com/world/us/bi...d-freedom-blasted-by-fbi-director-2025-01-21/
