Maybe Trump is actually a believer and didn't want to swear on the Bible knowing that there was no way he would comply with the oath in its entirety specifically promising to preserve and defend the Constitution. In less than 24 hours he demonstrated that he had no respect for the Constitution considering his mass pardons of persons convicted of attempting to prevent the Constitutionally mandated peaceful transfer of power and his EO the principle of birthright citizenship enshrined in the 14th Amendment and there are or will be dozens of more examples. FYI this is the oath to which Trump was swearing to uphold:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
