All in the first 8 hours of Trump being President. Doing more for the border than Biden did in 4 years. My God it's almost like it's not impossible to secure the border, if you actually want to try to secure the border. I had forgotten what competent leadership in the White House felt like. Trump making it look easy. El Paso Port of Entry, CBP One Immigration App Reportedly Shut Down After Trump Inauguration Keep going Trump. Shut the border down.
I have always thought, if they really really wanted to shut down the border, they could. It's all about how much you BS red tape you are going to put in front of him. But, if you want to shut it down, it's not difficult.
And we will smoke them out. Make it impossible for them to find employment and live here. Make it impossible for their kids to go to school. Make them afraid to get medical care. And they will be deported. I support putting in a three strike system. You get caught for a third time, you get life in prison and instead of working in the agriculture fields for low pay, you work in the agriculture fields for next to no pay as part of your prison work. The choice is theirs, they decide.
This is going to be challenged and the challenge will likely succeed. The Biden rule that allowed this and set up the app was the only way to present at the border and ask for asylum. The rule was designed to make application more orderly and harder. People waited for months to appear at the border and apply for asylum. Today, they showed up and their appointment were canceled. Applying for Asylum is a statutory right. The government can’t take it away by executive order. That is what the order today effectively does. It eliminates legal immigration
The emergency rule overrules that asylum right. And let me ask you this, why are they not applying for asylum in the first country with a stable government near their country of origin? Asylum rules indicate that asylum seekers must apply for asylum in the first country they arrive in with a stable government. They don't get to "pick and choose" where they apply for asylum. Asylum is also only for victims of political and racial/ethnic prosecution. "My country being a third world sh*thole country", while sad, is not a valid reason for asylum. The vast majority of asylum claims are denied, but it doesn't matter because most asylum seekers don't show up to their hearing. They've already achieved what they wanted, to get into the U.S. And if they want to apply for asylum, they can remain in Mexico while they wait for their asylum hearing date. But no entry into the U.S. until the asylum hearing date.
What strike system? You do know that asylum is legal immigration? And we have a one strike system now for people who sneak across the birder. What will happen to the economy if you end asylum immigration? How will it affect the agriculture, construction and hospitality industries? The low jobs Americans don’t want to do. We are already at full employment and are adding a great number of nuns every month.
Just remember, Trump is President now and is charge. I imagine Texas will be putting up the barbed wire and stocking the rivers with alligators again. Immigrants will have to decide if it's really worth the risk. I wouldn't risk it.
Not if the asylum claim has no ability to be valid. And immigrants have no right to enter the U.S. until their asylum hearing, assuming their asylum request is approved. Let's be brutally honest, very few asylum claims are valid, because most asylum claims are "my country is a third world sh*thole country". Asylum is only for political persecution and racial/ethnic persecution. Immigrants are told exactly what to say to get into the U.S. Those immigrants then disappear and never show up for their asylum hearing. And why are they not applying for asylum in stable countries like Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Argentina, Chile or Brazil? Asylum is not "pick and choose". You are supposed to apply for asylum in the first country you get to with a stable government. The abuse of the asylum system is over.
“Shutting down the border” is not that hard. Stopping people from walking across a mostly un defended 2000 mile border is another thing altogether. It’ll take more than an Eo to do that. And I think most of the country is hoping for legit reform in this area.
And here is the most cringe inducing post of the day. I will stay respectful as I can, but if this is how you think human beings should be treated, you are a clown. The border is open because our economy demands it. It is simple. It is all bluster.
An order or rule can’t overrule a statute. And the decision in the merits of an asylum application are not made when the person first appears at the border. They are entitled to hearings.
For agriculture, use the prison population as well as the unemployment population. If people are going to get unemployment benefits, make them work for it. If that doesn't cover it, then set up a temporary guest worker program, with the caveat that the immigrant can only stay while there is the need. So in agriculture for example, once the season is over, the immigrants are deported until the next season.
They are entitled to a hearing. They are not entitled to enter the U.S. until that hearing. And answer my question, why are these immigrants not applying for asylum in countries like Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Brazil, Argentina and Chile? Countries that are closer to their home and countries that would be easier to assimilate into the dominant culture of the country.
Craziest part about it all is many of these people they hate with all their heart align 100% with what they claim to support: religious, nuclear families with incredible work ethic chasing the American dream.
