If Leeann had gotten a 9.9 on beam and Selena as well..I think we would have won...the bars hurt as well...no 9.9s at all
I liked our Floor lineup, and Vault was fantastic, and will only get better. Bars have been traditionally one of our top events under Jenny. Last year and so far this year have been puzzling. Oklahoma scored 49.700 on Bars last week. We won't win the natty unless we really improve on this event.
Scores across the board are significantly lower this year than in past years. They've added more and tighter requirements for the judges and I don't understand the intricacies of it all. @ETGator1 does seem to have more in-depth knowledge, although I'm not sure where his expertise comes from. But he knows more than me for sure about gymnastics scoring. Again, I trust the judges and never think in any sport any officials are out to get the Gators. Mistakes are sometimes made. Sometimes they go against us, sometimes they favor us. Just from my subjective perspective tonight, both teams have excellent athletes, but I thought LSU was just a little bit sharper start to finish. Our best gymnast had an off night by her standards and we still only lost by .100. My first priority for any Gator team is to win the SEC. We've won 3 straight in gymnastics and tonight's loss makes that goal a good bit harder. But we're still plenty good enough to be in the Final 8 for the national title and then it's 2 nights to see who performs the best. We have as good a chance as anyone, so Go Gators.
collegegymnastics.com has an article explaining in great detail all of the scoring changes this year. I'll try to put the link up.
I don't think anyone has yet scored a perfect 10.00 this season. Or it has been significantly less than at this time last year. Look at Oklahoma, three meets in and they've yet to hit 198.000 (tonight-187.625 with 2 more gymnasts to go, but 198.00 is out of reach). I have no doubt we will continue to improve. It's going to be very difficult to go undefeated in the SEC, so we are not out of it yet. Unless one of our top gymnasts suffers a season-ending injury, We will no doubtedly contend for both the SEC Championship and the NCAA titles.
Update: Missouri's final Beamer scores a Perfect 10. Faith Torres of Oklahoma scores 9.975. Final Oklahoma 197.775 Missouri 196.750
Ugh! You had to bring that non-3 pointer up. Also, when has Clayton Jr-a 90% FT shooter-ever miss two consecutive free throws with the game on the line?
