When it comes to starting threads about wrongdoing, pretty much everyone here is selective, aren't they? With perhaps a rare exception or two, you don't see a lot of liberals starting threads about Democrats screwing up, or conservatives starting threads about Republicans screwing up.
Look, I'm not trying to dictate what people talk about here. Maybe there isn't a whole lot to say about the Abrams case, in which case don't respond.
But way too many threads quickly go from "Trump lied about XXX to ... Yeah, well Biden said ..." or "Democrat breaks rules to ... yeah, well Trump ..."
Does this thread really need a 237th mention of Trump's felony conviction?

    I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you again, based on this;

I'm not talking about starting threads. I'm not suggesting someone has to highlight the errors of those they support. I'm talking about literally accepting reality. Or not, as the case may be is.

Trump supporters here have, for YEARS, seen credible allegations of rape or sexual assault, or crime, or attacking our government, or racism, or any number of malfeasances that include literal convictions......... and their only response is a 'funny' rating, or typing "FAKE NEWS", or ..... outright lying.

These are people who, for probably 8 YEARS, haven't just tolerated the criminality, they have intentionally not even debated with the good faith of being honest or saying things that are true.

So to compare anyone who may not be real upset about Abrams' apparent actions to all of that....... or to not consider ANY Trump supporter upset at Abrams to be a total hypocrite is thoroughly inaccurate.

Edit; I've asked a Trump-voting mod more than once, in relevant threads, whether he considers Trump a criminal. Guy just walks away from the conversation. Not debating in good faith.

I've asked a different mod way more than once, in relevant threads, how we'd replace the appx 9 million illegal immigrants who would theoretically be deported. Guy just walks away from the conversation. Not debating in good faith.

It's a group of social "takers." Parasites. Abusers of social norms. Way past time to highlight and acknowledge that when they're upset that someone else MAY have done what they've done for years.

I'm for punishing anyone that breaks the law. If she broke the law and it calls for jail time then lock her. If Trump broke the law...well lawfare

I agree. Both campaigns broke the law. One campaign(Democrat) was fined appropriately per the law. The other(Trump) was charged with criminal fraud. Not fined for the finance violation; stretched, twisted, and inferred into a criminal fraud charge. Are you starting to see the difference yet?

This is not even addressing the disparity in the violations themselves.

The allegation as I read it was that two entities were set up. One was run like a campaign and the other was run like a non-profit. The claim is that they were too coordinated and they both should be considered campaign entities. Instead of fighting it the organizations agreed to pay a fine.

Wow. In a world where 100M in inauguration funds are funneled to friends and lectern companies are charging $21k to fund a girls weekend in Pairs this is relatively mundane.

Yes the difference is Trumpers would defend him even if he was fined. It's what they're programmed to do.

Only one broke the law in combination with other fraud. You seem to dismiss that reality.

Bullshit. If he was accused and paid an appropriate fine no one other than the far fringe would have peeped.

You are incorrectly stating the facts. I'm trying to think of a common synonym for that....

You're also conveniently ignoring the 50+ felony indictments for which Trump never went to trial, due to the distortion of the law by a corrupt judiciary that he largely appointed himself.

IIRC didn’t the NRA act as a cutout for Russian money to trump?

edit why yes. Yes it was. I guess Billy just overlooked the corruption in his own house.
NRA, Russia and Trump: How 'dark money' is poisoning American democracy

But when it comes to funding, the NRA may have finally gone too far: the FBI recently launched an investigation to determine whether a Russian central banker, and Putin ally, illegally funneled money through the organization to help the Trump campaign

Trump associates who have been sent to prison or faced criminal charges
Washington-based lobbyist Sam Patten pleaded guilty to illegally funneling foreign money into Trump's inaugural committee as well

California-based Imaaz Zuberi, who gave $900,000 to the Trump inaugural committee, was indicted last October for allegedly making illegal foreign straw donation, violating foreign lobbying laws and evading taxes. Last week, federal prosecutors added obstruction of justice to Zuberi's indictment, accusing him of taking "numerous steps" to thwart the federal criminal investigations upon learning of the investigation. Zuberi has pleaded guilty.

That’s what appeals and new charges are for. You (and the prosecutors) know that those charges didn’t have a snowballs chance in hell of going anywhere.

Might be time for you to update your sources of news.

Special counsel Jack Smith said he would have won a criminal conviction of President-elect Donald Trump if not for his election to a second term.

    https://www.npr.org/2025/01/14/nx-s...-have-convicted-trump-we-looked-at-the-report

Edit : Also, I don't think you necessarily know what "appeals and new charges" are for. Felony indictments shouldn't be slow-walked and tossed out by judges appointed by the defendant himself..... just so "appeals and new charges" can be filed.

Right Jo, “NPR reports that Jack Smith said he would have convicted Trump”. A biased “news” organization reports trash talk from a loser of a prosecutor who sewed together some strange combinations to make an ugly quilt. Who here is surprised at this.

FWIW Jo, Joe Biden also says he would have beaten Trump. It’s a coin flip as to which claim is more ridiculous.
