Surprised that there has been no mention of this GC article. Despite his injuries, he was the third leading receiver this past season, although most of his receptions were Mertz throws of less than 10 yards, including a bunch that were effectively glorified forward handoffs. Does Wilson have the ability of being a downfield threat? We didn't see much of Wilson or anyone with Mertz at quarterback, but with Lagway, hope we can use Wilson as we used Percy Harvin or showing my age, how Nebraska used Johnny Rodgers. Billy Napier must figure out a bigger, more well-defined role for Tre Wilson in 2025 | GatorCountry.com
It was on here somewhere. I remember reading it yesterday. its in the “what you want to see offensively” thread.
Wilson in open space is lethal, no matter where on the football field he catches the ball. And... the farther down field he is when he catches the ball, the better. He will make more yardage from the reception point.
Back in the old days I had a side job writing sports articles for our county newspaper. They paid me by the word: nickel a word as I recall. Don’t think anyone does that anymore but, just saying.
I think Wilson will be the key to unlocking DJs short and intermediate passing game if Wilson returns healthy
wilson is a good weapon in that way but its on DJ to get it to him. There are many wbs that are great in the nfl but their short game and especially te's aren't utilized as much.
I have to think that when Mertz went down, and they knew it was season ending, CBN had a conversation with Wilson that this would be a good time to have surgery on the chronic hip problem, as Lagway would stretch the field, and Wilson wouldn't be needed to get tough yards within 15 yards of the LOS. Hopefully Wilson will expand his game and be able to get the ball down the field more.
the article title implied that he was misused this year, far from it as he was injured. He’ll be fine in the system next year.
Really sad to see what journalism has devolved into. Clickbait, lack of reporting, AI generated content. I love sports journalism but it’s dying. And reporters can’t even ask questions anymore without being in fear of losing their press pass or being called a hater by players or being cooked as fake news or too negative by fans etc etc
