I just think you keep looking at this rationally, with an unwavering eye towards what is best for the long term benefit to our country and our allies. And that is a mistake. I don’t think Trump had those forwarding thinking skills at this point in his life, nor the care to burden himself with long term success. I hope he proves me wrong.

I think both sides are getting close to their tipping point and want an off ramp that allows them to save face and accomplish some of their strategic goals. I think Ukraine is ready to deal. Putin is going to have to be convinced and I think LTG Kellogg will be able to provide a lot of good advice on how to do that with help from the US DoD and IC. Again, Trump is just benefiting from coming into office at this point. I would be saying the same thing here if Harris had won.

I don't think the young would necessarily be the ones to rise up against Putin. They might be more likely to protest and make a stink, but not the ones to take action. If Putin is overthrown, it will more likely be an oligarch or military figure. Someone in their 50's. Someone who could get close to Putin. The Wagner leader came pretty close to doing it (and probably could have done it), but that apparently was not his intention to seize power.

You are right as can be, but one way or another you still have to get the young men fit enough and determined enough to carry weapons behind you.

Surely you're smarter than this. The quick math on that is 45,000 troops a month or a 540,000 troops a year pace. Even if he's counting casualties, that's a bogus number.

You're both wrong. If there was a revolt or revolution in Russia, it would most definitely involve the younger generation. For what do the oligarchs have to fight over? They're going to have a cushy life with or without Putin. The younger generation has exponentially more at stake.

So the US IC that was able to provide Ukraine the Russian's war plan for the invasion of Ukraine, does not have a good handle on the amount of Russian casualties on a monthly basis despite all the aide we are sending them? Is that your position?

i would be surprised if his legacy didn't matter to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he is being told what he wants to hear to keep him happy

djt has to threaten to unleash complete use of us weapons, defense production act to increase artillery, etc and additional supplies to ukraine to be able to defeat/embarass putin to get a deal that Ukraine will accept.

i suspect djt is more likely to threaten ukraine with denial of support and ukraine is likely to lean on the EU and their own growing defense industry to produce what they need. this phone call or meeting will not be recorded for posterity nor will anyone not in total fealty be witness to it

Russia's 'Secret' Military Facilities Hit in Massive Overnight Drone Raids

Facilities contributing to Russia's military efforts have long been key targets of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks. Following the relaxation of restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western weaponry, the attacks have extended in range, and Kyiv has targeted facilities such as drone manufacturing plants that contribute to aerial assaults on Ukraine.

The latest large-scale attack has hit at least three industrial facilities. If, as Ukraine claims, these sites operate as covert support hubs for the Russian military, the attack could have substantial consequences for Moscow's war effort.
    .........
Independent news channel Astra reported that the drone raid caused fires to break out at an industrial zone in the town of Gatchina in the Leningrad region, which houses several factories. State-owned outlet Tass reported that one fire had engulfed an acetone production facility. The Russian Emergencies Ministry later reported that the fire had been extinguished. Astra, citing local authorities, said explosions caused the toxic chemical to spill out of the factory but that no casualties had been reported.

Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar said on Telegram that a fire had erupted at an unspecified industrial facility spanning 2,000 square meters as a result of a "massive enemy air attack." It was later extinguished, he added. Astra reported that a motor transport company, located near the site of the fire, could have been Ukraine's target.

Ukrainian drone strikes ignite massive fire in Leningrad
The industrial area in Gatchina, located in the Leningrad region, is currently on fire. The industrial plants there were targeted by Ukrainian drones early this morning. This target is situated over 620 miles from the front line.

Recordings shared on Telegram show a massive fire erupted in the industrial area of Gatchina in the Leningrad region. The area includes, among others, the 218th Aviation Repair Plant. Ukrainian media reports that the fire involved plants producing acetone.

There will come a time when Russia is our ally. The neocon wet dream of getting rid of Putin, splitting Russia into several different countries and plundering its resources has failed.

Maybe we should work with Rusdia to stop terrorism and nuclear proliferation? Or do you warmongers need to see dirty radioactive bombs exploding in American cities with trillions of dollars in cleanup costs?

While we're at it we should bring Iran into Western civilization as well, as grand strategist Greg Copley (former advisor to the Shah) has been saying for at least 2 decades.

The question is not whether the IC has an accurate handle on the amount of Russian casualties. It's whether or not Austin is telling the truth or spewing propaganda. Interesting that you just assumed Austin would parrot accurate intelligence data to the media. I wish things worked that way, but they clearly don't.
